I love any dessert with baked apples. Apple pie, apple crisp, apple tart, doesn’t matter… if it has apples I am sold. This caramel apple dump cake is no exception. It’s super easy to make and it’s crazy delicious.

It’s oozing with melty caramel and warm apple pie filling. Topped off with vanilla cake mix that is baked to sweet crunchy perfection. This is the ultimate comfort food in dessert form and everyone who tries it absolutely loves it!

The name actually comes from the method of making the cake. You literally just dump all of the ingredients together and then bake it.

I love this caramel apple dump cake, but you could so easily switch it up. You can change your fruit filling, the cake flavor, or both! So, really this recipe is many recipes all in one.

The ingredients list for caramel apple dump cake is really simple. There aren’t too many items that go into making this dessert. Here’s exactly what you’ll need:

  • 2 (20 oz) cans of apple pie filling
  • ¼ tsp allspice
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • ½ of a 10.8 oz bag of Werther’s Original Chewy Caramels (or any type of caramel similar size), cut in half
  • 1 box super moist butter yellow cake mix
  • ¾ cup salted butter (1 ½ sticks), cut into 15 squares
  • Vanilla ice cream for serving

How to Make Apple Pie Dump Cake

  1. Dump apple pie filling into baking dish.
  2. Sprinkle allspice and cinnamon over the apples and mix.
  3. Place cut caramels on top of the mixture.
  4. Top with DRY cake mix and smooth with a spatula.
  5. Distribute cold butter pieces evenly over the cake.
  6. Bake!

Caramel Apple Dump Cake is an easy to convert a classic pie into a conveniently prepared, dump and bake cake. So simple and can be made in minutes!

Ingredients
  

  • 2 20-ounce cans apple pie filling
  • ¼ tsp allspice
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • ½ 10.8 ounce bag Werther’s Original Chewy Caramels cut in half (or similar sized caramels)
  • 1 box super moist butter yellow cake mix
  • ¾ cup salted butter 1 ½ sticks, cut into 15 squares
  • Vanilla ice cream for serving (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9×13 baking dish with cooking spray.
  • Dump both cans of apple pie filling into the baking dish. Sprinkle allspice and cinnamon over apples. Stir to mix. Smooth with a spatula.
  • Cut ½ of the bag of caramels in half. Sprinkle them over the top of the apples.
  • Top with DRY cake mix. Smooth with a spatula.
  • Evenly add cold butter pieces to the top of the cake
  • Place in the oven and let bake uncovered for 45 minutes. Rotate pan half way through cooking.
  • The cake is done when the sides of the cake are bubbling and it is golden brown on top.
