crockpot recipes

For my wedding, we received a crock pot…..twelve years later I tried it for the first time.

I made my first crock pot recipe with my friend Kristin, who gave me a hands on lesson of how to make beef stew. My family loved it and I loved how easy it was. However, it took me another two years to try it again. I saw a recipe on Pinterest that looked yummy and easy, so I gave it a try and it was a HUGE hit! (I actually posted it on my Easy Family Friendly Recipes post). Now, I am a total crock pot fan and was looking for some great recipes (they must be easy and not too many ingredients!!)   – so I called out to my friends and asked for some new quick and easy crockpot recipes. What happened next surprised me – I got tons of great recipes, but I got even more messages asking me to forward the recipes that I received to them! IDEA – new blog post! So here you go – many thanks to all of my guest contributors!! (Another underutilized tool in my kitchen is my FOOD PROCESSOR – it doesn’t get nearly enough love – BUT, this article from Amanda’s Cookin’ on 13 Ways to Use it & 26 Recipes to Prove it are making me dust that baby off!

When I asked for crock pot recipes, Amy was a superstar – her e-mails just kept coming with yummy recipe after yummy recipe! – Here are a couple that looked particularly good (and some crock pot words of wisdom!)
Hi my my name is Amy Kay and I love crock pot cooking. Being a working mom I love coming home to a meal ready to go. I also enjoy the crock pot freezer meals that I make on a Sunday and have 20 meals stashed in the freezer for the weeks ahead, it is one day of kitchen mess up for 20 meals! Most of these recipes I have tried and really like….with the freezer meals if it calls for potatoes I par boil them so they don’t turn black and also I soak any beans or they never cook through in the crock pot. I will say crock pot liners are the greatest invention and worth every penny. I have tried to share some of my favorite recipe links. I hope you find them useful. Happy crock-potting!!

  1. If you like a crock pot you should try a bean pot. You can cook in the microwave, oven and also put the bean pot in the dishwasher, and freezer. In a bean pot you can cook meat, cakes, veggies, soup and about any recipe you have listed on your blog. Taco soup is made in the microwave in 20 minutes so it’s a lot less time than in a crock pot. Check out my recipe blog at http://www.beanpotrecipesbycarolynhartmann.blogspot.com
