How to Make Crockpot Coca-Cola Pulled Pork

  1. Make The Seasoning Mix: Whisk together the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika.
  2. Prepare The Pork: Place the pork in the crock pot and rub with seasoning mix (Image 1). Pour coke into the crockpot so that it almost covers the meat. (Images 2 and 3)
Pro tip: Pour the soda down the side of the crockpot so as to avoid rinsing the seasoning off of the meat.
  3. Cook. Cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 5-6 hours.
  4. Shred. Remove all but 1/4 cup of liquid from the crockpot and shred the pork in the juices.

What To Serve With Pulled Pork

Traditionally pulled pork is served sloppy joes style between buns or rolls and served with an assortment of sides, such as pickles, salad, potato chips, or french fries. Potato or macaroni salad, mashed potatoes and gravy, homemade coleslaw, and cornbread pair perfectly as well.

Serve a shredded coca cola pork slow cooker sandwich with broccoli slaw or lettuce piled on top. Coca cola bbq pulled pork can also be spooned over a bed of rice, stuffed in tacos or burritos, rolled in a wrap, or even mixed in with mac and cheese.

Leftover crockpot bbq pulled pork can be used to make chili, as a filling for enchiladas, as a topping for pizza and nachos, or simply eaten straight from the spoon!

  • I love using crockpot liners –they make cleanup so much easier.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best way to reheat the pulled pork?

First, allow the pulled pork to thaw in the fridge (if applicable) before spreading it into a baking dish and covering it with aluminum foil. Bake at 350°F for 15-20 minutes or until heated through. Alternatively, pop an individual portion in the microwave and heat it in 30-second intervals until warm. You can add a little water or stock to the pork to keep it moist.

Can I make this ahead of time and freeze it?

Yes, you can make this in advance. Follow the recipe from start to finish, allow the pork to cool completely, and then seal it in a freezer-safe airtight container. You can keep it in the freezer for up to 3 months. Allow it to thaw in the fridge before reheating.

Should I use pork butt or pork shoulder?

Pork shoulder is the ideal cut for low and slow cooked pulled pork, however, they are both amazing cuts of meat for this recipe and provide great flavor and texture.
