What type of apples is best for homemade applesauce?

When it comes to picking out the best apples for making applesauce, you can get by with just about any type of apple. So, if you have a particular favorite, feel free to use that. However, since you will be cooking the apples and blending them, it typically works best to use apples that are soft such as Fuji, Golden Delicious, or McIntosh.

  • Apple cutter
  • Apple peeler
  • Immersion blender – Instead of using an immersion blender, you can also mash the apples by hand if you are okay with a bit of a chunky texture. Alternatively, you can also blend the apples in a blender if you don’t have an immersion blender.
