pepperoni Pizza rolls recipe

My easy Pepperoni Rolls recipe takes only 10 minutes to prepare, using nothing more than premade pizza dough, pepperoni, mozzarella cheese, some melted butter, and a sprinkle of herbs and spices.

Using store-bought dough makes this dish so simple; you merely flatten, fill, roll, and bake.

While the original West Virginia pepperoni rolls recipe (and Pittsburgh pepperoni rolls recipe too!) was just a soft roll stuffed with a stick of pepperoni meant for a coal miner’s lunch, my revised recipe for pepperoni and cheese rolls is the perfect way to feed your family or place them on a party platter, in a lunch box, or on the side of the main meal.

Forget those frozen pizza rolls because it’s so easy to make this savory snack at home; these pepperoni pizza rolls even taste like pizza that’s cooked without the crust.

Why We Love This pepperoni roll Recipe

  • Quick and easy to make.
  • Only uses 3 main ingredients plus melted butter and seasoning.
  • Family-friendly and picky eater approved.
  • Best bite-sized portable pizzas that you can customize with your favorite fillings.
  • Delicious when dipped in sauce.
  • Perfect football food, game-day appetizer, after-school snack, or light dinner.

  • Dried basil
  • Garlic powder

  • Mix Up The Meat: You can make this recipe with different meats, although they will be another type of roll entirely! Try ham, sausage, salami, Canadian bacon, grilled chicken, or even cooked regular bacon!
  • Swap The Sauce: I love dipping these rolls in marinara sauce but some other ideas include ranch dressing, BBQ sauce, Alfredo sauce, or even spaghetti sauce.
  • Tasty Toppings: Feel free to fill your rolls with your favorite pizza toppings. You can use olives, peppers, tomatoes, or anything that will fit!

How to Make PEPPERONI ROLLS

  1. Prepare The Pizza Dough: Roll the dough into a rectangle approximately 1⁄4 inch thick. Cut width-wise into 11 or 12 strips.
Pro Tip: You may not need to roll the dough; it comes out of the can quite thin.
  2. Assemble: Place a layer of pepperoni on each strip and top with cheese. Roll each strip and place into the pie pan, seam side down. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with basil, garlic powder, and parmesan cheese. Add the parsley on top.
Pro Tip: The filling should not be facing up. They can be placed right next to each other.
  3. Bake: Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  4. Serve: Serve with pasta sauce or marinara for dipping. Enjoy!

Frequently Asked Questions

can I make my own pizza dough for this recipe?

Yes, you can absolutely make your own dough for your rolls. I like to buy pre-made dough because it makes it so quick and easy preparation.

can I freeze pepperoni rolls?

Yes, you can freeze your baked pepperoni rolls. Allow them to cool completely and then freeze them in an air-tight container or Ziploc bag. Then pull them out of the freezer and bake them in the oven until heated through about 20 minutes.

can I prepare my rolls ahead of time?

I do not recommend preparing these rolls too far ahead of time. Store-bought pizza dough should be baked right away once you’ve opened the can or package.

can I use another type of dough instead of pizza dough?

While I haven’t made my rolls with another type of dough, many recipes call for bread dough, biscuit dough, or even crescent roll dough.
