Oreo Dirt Pudding Recipe

Our individual Dirt Cake Cups are a simple spin on my Oreo dirt cake recipe, made as perfectly portioned, portable desserts instead of being prepared in a rectangular pan and served by the slice.

Oreo dirt cups are a cool, creamy, crunchy combination of contrasting flavors and textures: there are alternating layers of a pudding, butter, cream cheese, and Cool Whip mixture that sit above and below crushed cookies.

These Oreo pudding cups are smaller in size and easier to hold (especially for little hands) than its large size cousin, the classic dirt cake, but they’re just as much fun to consume for both kids and adults alike.

Get creative and make fancy dirt cups in mini flower pots or display your dirt in a bucket with artificial flowers or bugs, then serve your snack with a small shovel and devour your dirt with a spoon.

Tips For Making Delicious Dirt Cake Cups

  • Make sure your butter and cream cheese are softened to room temperature so they’re easy to combine.
  • I like to use a full-fat whipped topping and 2% milk or whole milk for this recipe for the creamiest results.

How to Store Dirt Cake Cups

  • To Store: These dirt cake cups can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container for 2-3 days. Any longer and they will start to get soggy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to use a food processor?

No, you do not have to use a food processor to crush your cookies. I often use a blender or food processor if I want them to have a fine crumb consistency and also because it’s faster. You can also place the cookies in a Ziploc bag and crush them with a rolling pin. The Ziploc method will give you both small and chunky pieces. Make sure you crush the entire cookie and do not remove the filling!

Can I prepare in dirt cake cups in advance?

You can prepare your no-bake dirt cake cups a day ahead of time. If possible, I recommend adding the crushed Oreos on top right before serving because they can get a little soft the longer they sit in the fridge. Reserve the gummy worms for serving too.

Can I make my own whipped cream instead of using Cool Whip?

I personally like prepared whipped topping like Cool Whip because it’s more stable and keeps well in the fridge. However, you can use homemade whipped cream like my Homemade Whipped Cream (Stabilized Recipe)!
