How to Make Churro French Toast Rolls

These finger-friendly, easy-to-make Churro French Toast Rolls are a sweet treat for your morning meal. They’re simply delicious bites of pan-fried bread stuffed with a dulce de leche filling and coated in cinnamon sugar.

  1. Cut The Crust: Remove the crust from each slice of bread then roll out with a rolling pin.
Pro-Tip: Make sure to use a soft bread that’s easy for flattening. When flattening roll ups, be sure not too press too hard. If the rolls are too thin, they may tear when rolled.
  2. Spread On The Bread: Spread the Cajeta on each slice of bread and then tightly roll it.
  3. Dip: Whisk together the eggs, add the milk and vanilla. Dip each roll in the liquid to coat all sides.
Pro Tip: Be careful not to saturate the bread with liquid mixture or your roll up will end up soggy.
  4. Pan Fry: Cook the rolls in hot, melted butter until golden brown and slightly crispy on all sides, about 2 minutes.
  5. Coat With Cinnamon Sugar: Combine the sugar and cinnamon and then roll each cooked French toast roll in the mixture. Serve hot and enjoy!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make French Toast Rolls in advance and then freeze them?

Yes, you can make these in advance! Once fully prepared, place your rolls on a lined sheet pan, cover, and freeze for about 30 minutes, then transfer to a freezer bag. You can reheat them in the microwave for 30 seconds. Keep frozen for up to 2 months.

Why is my roll soggy in the middle?

Your Churro French Toast Roll roll will end up soggy when the bread soaks up too much of the liquid mixture or if you haven’t cooked the French toast long enough.

I don’t have a rolling pin on hand. What is another way I could roll out the bread?

A sturdy cup can easily act as your make-shift rolling pin. Works like a charm!
