Easy TikTok Blended Baked Oats

Our chocolate chip Blended Baked Oatmeal recipe is trending on Tik Tok for so many reasons – it’s a delicious breakfast option that tastes like dessert but the base is healthy, wholesome, and nutritious.

It is so easy to prepare this morning meal simply by pulsing oats, banana, egg, milk, sweetener, and baking powder in a blender, customizing it with your favorite mix-ins, and baking it in the oven until it becomes a cake-like texture with a sweet taste.

Baked blended oats often use the same base ingredients as other baked oatmeal recipes, but by blending all of the ingredients before baking them, you create a light and fluffy consistency similar to cake (perfect for those who do not like the texture of oats) without compromising any of the nutrients or healthy benefits of oatmeal.

Baked blended oatmeal is comforting, hearty, and customizable; it’s the morning meal that tastes like a treat so you won’t mind getting out of bed for breakfast!

Blended Baked Oats Ingredients

  • Old fashioned rolled or quick oats, both work for this recipe
  • Banana
  • Egg
  • Almond milk or milk of your choice
  • Maple syrup or honey
  • Baking powder
  • Chocolate chips (optional add-in)

Substitutions and Additions

  • Optional Add-Ins: Customize your baked blender oatmeal with your favorite fillings. Try mixing in chocolate chips, peanut butter, a nut or seed butter (like almond butter or cashew butter), fresh berries, cocoa powder, sprinkles, or even a scoop of protein powder.
  • Pick Your Porridge Oats: You can use any type of porridge oats for this recipe. Old fashioned rolled oats, jumbo, or quick oats will all give the same result. However, I do not recommend using steel cuts oats for this recipe.
  • Make With Another Milk: I used almond milk because that is what the viral recipe on Tik Tok uses. However, I have tested this with cow’s milk and oat milk and the recipe works just as well. Use whichever dairy or plant based milk you prefer.
  • Vegan Version: To make this recipe vegan use maple syrup, agave, stevia, or coconut nectar and not honey. You can also use flaxseed egg instead of egg. Combine 1 tbsp of flaxseed and 3 tbsp of water, allow to sit for 5 minutes then use in place of the egg in the recipe. Or you can skip the egg altogether, however the oats may not rise as much.

Tips For Making The Best Blended Baked Oats

  • I used a Magimix blender however this recipe will work in any blender, smoothie maker, or NutriBullet.
  • You can substitute the banana for 1/2 cup applesauce.
  • This recipe serves two. However, you can easily increase the ingredients to make enough chocolate oatmeal to feed a crowd! If you are making in a larger dish with higher quantities increase the baking time by ten minutes. You will know the oats are cooked when they have risen, feel springy to the touch and are shrinking away from the edges of the dish.
  • Make sure to use certified gluten-free rolled oats if you have a gluten sensitivity or following a gluten-free diet.

How to Store Blended Baked Oats

  • To Store: Cover and refrigerate for up to 2 days.
  • To Reheat: Reheat in the microwave until piping hot.

Oats Are heart-Healthy

Oats are among the healthiest grains and a perfect addition to many sweet and savory recipes. They are naturally gluten-free whole grain and loaded with essential vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants. Consuming oats as part of a weekly meal plan may prove effective for weight management, lowering blood sugar levels, and reducing the risk of heart disease.

To keep your blended baked oats breakfast healthy, make sure to add low-sugar, low-fat mix-ins. Fresh berries can offer extra vitamins, nut butter add a boost of protein, and even cocoa powder contains polyphenols and antioxidants that help control blood sugar levels.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many minutes total time does this recipe take?

This blended baked oats recipe took exactly 23 minutes to bake in my oven, plus 5 minutes to prepare prior. Do not overcook as the oats will become dry but if you don’t cook them long enough they will end up soggy. Check for doneness after 20 minutes.

What if I overmix my ingredients?

Because you are using oats instead of flour, you do not need to worry about over-mixing or blending the ingredients. Keep blending until everything looks really smooth. The final mixture will look fairly runny but will firm up upon baking.

Do I have to use egg in this recipe?

No, you do not have to use eggs in this banana-baked oatmeal. Eggs are often used as a binder for many baked oatmeal recipes, but you can also use banana, applesauce, or flax eggs instead.
