Ingredients For Making Ranch Potato Chip Dip

chip dip ingredients.
  • Herb & garlic cream cheese: Feel free to use your favorite cream cheese flavor. Try Garden Vegetable or Spicy Jalapeño for a fun swap.
  • Ranch dressing mix
  • Sour cream: Feel free to use low-fat sour cream in this recipe if you prefer. However, I would not recommend using fat-free sour cream, as it will really change the overall consistency of your dip. You can also replace half of the sour cream with plain Greek yogurt to cut the calories and pack in some protein.

Best Chip Dip Variations for Every Occasion

Why stick to the same boring dip when you can mix up the base and create endless flavor combinations? Whether you’re hosting a holiday celebration, snacking solo, or looking to impress guests at your next party, these chip dip variations are fun, easy, and guaranteed to satisfy every craving!

  • Serve It Spicy: Get creative with a mix of spices like smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, or a dash of cayenne pepper for an extra kick. Or, add a bit of heat with diced jalapeños, a sprinkle of cumin, and a squeeze of lime juice. The right blend of spices will take your dip from ordinary to extraordinary in no time!
  • Stir In Onion Soup: For a quick and flavorful twist, stir in a packet of onion soup mix! It adds a savory, onion-forward taste and a simple shortcut to a rich, zesty flavor. You can even add fresh green onions for a crunchy texture and a burst of fresh flavor that perfectly complements the richness of the soup mix!
  • Spinach Dip: Add a healthy dose of vitamins to your dip by folding in some chopped spinach. Whether you use fresh or frozen spinach, it brings a fresh, vibrant flavor to your dip and pairs perfectly with chips or veggies.
  • Add Depth To The Dip: Elevate your dip with a blend of dried herbs like oregano, thyme, dill, basil, and a sprinkle of dried parsley. The parsley adds a fresh, vibrant touch while the other herbs bring a savory, aromatic depth to your dip.
  • Balance With Bacon: Crumble crispy bacon into your dip and mix in some shredded cheddar cheese. The creamy ranch base perfectly balances the smoky bacon for a crowd-pleasing combo. Add some shredded cheese and you’ve made an addictive combination called crack dip!
  • Dill Pickle Dip: Mix in some mayonnaise and chopped dill pickles for a zesty flavor profile with the perfect tang!
  • Veggie Dip: My veggie dip recipe combines the delicious flavor of a french onion dip with the richness of a ranch dip to create a thick and creamy 3-ingredient vegetable dip. Hollow out a red or green bell pepper and scoop your dip inside for a pretty presentation.

Serving Suggestions For Ranch Chip Dip

Ranch chip dip recipes are perfectly portable for taking to parties, game day gatherings, tailgates, or any time that calls for a crowd-pleasing appetizer.

  • Serve With Scoopables: Fritos Scoops, potato chips, tortilla chips, bread sticks, pita chips, bagel chips, Triscuits, and saltine or Ritz crackers are great for scooping and dipping. You can also serve your dip with fresh vegetables, like celery sticks, cucumber rounds, carrot sticks, or bell pepper slices.
  • Serve As Dipping Sauce: Time to get dipping! This potato chip dip is so delicious, it goes with almost anything. From french fries, and pickle chips, to chicken wings and cheese sticks, you can use this as a creamy dipping sauce for your favorite finger foods.
  • Serve As A Spread: Spread your Ranch chip dip on burgers, slather it on sandwiches, or roll it inside your wraps. You can even usse it as a topping on baked potatoes. A great alternative to classic condiments.

Serving and Storing Ranch Potato Chip Dip: Best Practices

To store leftovers, transfer your dip into an airtight container and refrigerate immediately to keep it fresh. Because this dip contains dairy, it is best consumed within 2-3 days. If the dip separates or becomes watery, just give it a quick stir before serving again.

  1. If you want to make French Onion Chip Dip, tastes just like Lawson’s Chip Dip from years ago, just exchange the Herb & Garlic cream cheese for Chive and Onion and it’s the best ever! Everything else in the recipe you have is exactly the same. This is also such a great dip using pretzels also – so hard to stop eating them. The tiny ones work the best.
