TIPS
Couple of tips when making this chocolate bark.
- Be sure to line the baking sheet otherwise the chocolate could stick. It is also much easier to remove it from the pan when you are ready to cut it up.
- To cut the perfect chocolate snowman pieces, I used a very sharp knife to score the chocolate and used the knife to guide the “break”. I would hold the knife where I wanted the break after scoring it and then “broke” the chocolate by pulling it up against the knife.
- To make the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup hat, just cut the bottom portion of the Reese’s from the top portion and then slightly un-align them! See the photo below.

I had a difficult time with the top hats; the Reece’s cups kept coming apart. I found that I needed to score it with a serrated knife before trying to make a level cut. Once they were separated, I cut down the “top” part of the hat to make it smaller than the “rim” part to make it look more hat-like.
Do you think these freeze well? For our cookie exchange, we typically try to make that a guideline….
What is the best way to store these melted snowmen? How long can you store them? Can they be made ahead?
You can for sure store them for a few days. I would put them in an airtight container in a cool place (so nothing melts)
I had a blast making the melted snowmen. I was afraid they wouldn’t break where I wanted them to so I did each 1 individually on parchment paper on plates and flat bowls. I discovered less is better & people dont feel guilty about eating a smaller one. I aimed for about 3 inches in diameter. They turned out great and were a hit at our church social. Thanks for this great idea! It’s a keeper.
That’s just so adorable! OMG, I love them. Very xmas like too.
Awwwww thanks so much!
