Chocolate Covered Oreo Reindeer Cookies

These adorable chocolate covered Oreos crafted into reindeer are so creamy and delicious not to mention they just make you want to smile.

Tis the season to spread Holiday cheer which for a lot of us means giving and receiving homemade treats. This chocolate covered Oreos recipe will make the perfect gift for family, friends, and jolly ole St. Nick.

If your like me, making cookies during the Holidays is a fun way to kick off the festive season. Hi everyone, Shannon here from The Food Cafe, just dropping in to share a delicious treat inspired by my favorite reindeer.

Chocolate covered Oreo cookies are a great way to get your kids involved in the treat making process as well.

I warn you, however, there may be a few less Oreos left than what you started with when having your kids help out, but that is what the Holidays are all about, fun and eating lots of goodies.

Here is What You Need

  • Double stuffed oreo cookies
  • Mini twist pretzels (cut in half)
  • Chocolate candy coating
  • Red hots
  • Candy eyes

How to make chocolate covered Oreos?

  1. Begin by getting all the ingredients you need; chocolate candy coating(melts), mini pretzels, double stuffed Oreos, red hots, candy eyes, and paper straws.ingredients needed to make reindeer oreo cookies
  2. Cut mini pretzels in half and set aside.cutting pretzels to make antlers for reindeer oreo cookies
  3. Trim the straws to desired length.Straws used to hold up reindeer oreo cookies
  4. Once ends have been trimmed, flatten one end out to easily insert into Oreos.straws for reindeer oreo flattened on one end.
  5. Melt candy chocolate melts in the microwave in 30-second increments until smooth and dip one end of each straw in the melted chocolate

7. Place on a rimmed baking sheet lined with parchment paper and refrigerate for 5 minutes to allow the chocolate to harden.Reindeer oreo cookies lined up on a rimmed baking sheet.

8. Dip each Oreo into the melted chocolate (you may need to microwave the chocolate again to melt) and scrape off one side of the oreo to remove any extra chocolate.

9. Dress the chocolate covered Oreo with two candy eyes and one red hot for the nose.

10. Gently press the mini pretzel halves on either side of the chocolate covered oreo as the antlers and place back on the rimmed baking sheet. Continue until all the Oreos have been turned into reindeer oreo cookies and refrigerate to harden (about 10 minutes).

Chocolate dipped Oreos can be made into many different fun Holiday treats.

I love making the reindeer Oreos because they remind me of my favorite holiday movie growing up and they taste amazing. They make a fun gift for Holiday parties and look adorable as a centerpiece on your table.

No matter how you choose to make, eat, and dispense these adorable chocolate covered Oreos turned Rudolf’s, kids and adults will love every bite.

Can I freeze chocolate covered Oreos?

Yes, you can freeze chocolate covered Oreos.

Allow the chocolate covered Oreos to harden in the refrigerator (about 5 minutes). Place a piece of parchment paper down on the inside of an airtight container.

Layer with reindeer oreo cookies. Place a second piece of parchment paper on top of the cookies and lay another layer. Repeat until all the chocolate covered Oreos have been stored and place in the freezer.

  • 20 double stuffed oreo cookies
  • 20 mini twist pretzels cut in half
  • 1 lb chocolate candy coating
  • 1 bag red hots
  • 1 package candy eyes

Instructions
