That means it is the ultimate make-ahead item for your hot weather entertaining so you can spend your time with your guests without spending extra time in the kitchen. This is a great party drink that can be doubled or tripled, depending on your guest list.

The best part is that you can use any fruit combination for a different flavored drink. The health-conscious sippers can even claim they are drinking their daily dose of vitamins! The ideal party drink for the perfect party!

Ingredients / Shopping List

  • Sweet White Wine: I use a Riesling or Moscato, but you can use your favorite white wine. Keep in mind that if you choose a drier wine, you may need to add extra simple syrup.
  • Frozen Strawberries: if you have fresh fruit in season, you can wash/peel and freeze it for your slushie, otherwise just grab a bag of frozen fruit from the freezer section at your grocery.
  • Frozen Pineapple: I love using fruits like berries, stone fruits like peaches, mangos, and cherries, or pineapple chunks because they blend up the best.
  • Ice cubes: adds the slush to the slushie.

For The Simple Syrup

  • Granulated Sugar: the sugar not only adds sweetness to this drink but it also acts as an antifreeze so that a soft, wet slurry mixture is formed
  • Water: the “slush” texture is made by blending the sugar and water with the fruit and wine

How To Make White Wine Slushies

This white wine slushie recipe is so easy and makes a perfectly delicious and refreshing treat to beat the summer heat. And it only takes 5 minutes!

Make the simple syrup by heating the water in the microwave and stir in the sugar until it has dissolved. Set your bowl aside to cool before you add it to the blender.
Pro Tip: a glass measuring cup with a spout works great.

make simple syrup by mixing water with sugar and put in microwave

Blend together your chilled wine, frozen strawberries, ice and simple syrup (see recipe below for simple syrup). Your slushie should be smooth without any chunks of fruit or ice.
Pro Tip: Use a high-powered blender if possible. This will save you time and result in a smoother slushie. If you do not have a high-powered blender, no worries! You may just need to add a bit more liquid to create the smoothness.

Next, repeat the blending process above with your second fruit choice.

Now all that’s left to do is assemble, serve and enjoy! That’s it! So easy, right?

For the prettiest looking slushies, the two fruit colors should have a distinct difference. To assemble, start by spooning the strawberry mixture into the bottom of a wine glass, a drinking glass or a mason jar. Then, top the strawberry slushie with the pineapple slushie.

Finally, garnish your glass with fresh strawberry or pineapple. Add a straw and enjoy every sweet sip.
Pro Tip: You can make these white wine slushies in advance and store them in your freezer until you are ready to serve them. When it is time to assemble, remove the slushies from your freezer and allow them to thaw on your countertop for 5-10 minutes. Using an ice cream scoop, scoop out the slushie and prepare your individual drinks in your serving glasses.

Variations / Options / Add-In’s

  • Frozen Fruit: You can make any fruit-flavored white wine slushie of your choice. Use your favorite frozen fruit and follow the other ingredients and directions as listed.
  • Fresh Fruit: If you have fresh fruit in season that you want to use, you only need to rinse/peel your fresh fruit, cut it into 1-inch pieces, and then spread it out in an even layer on a parchment-lined sheet tray and place it in your freezer for about 2 hours. Once frozen, you can place the frozen fruit into a freezer-safe zip-top bag and store it in your freezer for up to 3 months or until ready to use.
  • Some delicious fruit combinations are: Raspberry/Peach, Mixed berry/Mango, Blackberry/Strawberry
  • Serve: Get creative. You can serve your slushie in a wine glass, mason jar, a cocktail glass or even a margarita glass.
  • Choose your finish: For a spoonable, sorbet-like consistency, blend your ingredients until just combined. Blend longer for a sippable slushie.

Tips

  • You can make as many fruit flavor choices as you would like and allow party guests to create their own favorite fruit combinations.
  • I highly recommend using fruits like berries, stone fruits like peaches, mangos & cherries (that have been pitted and peeled) or pineapple chunks. These fruits blend up the best.
  • If you are using a dryer white wine, like a Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc, I’d suggest that you increase the amount of simple syrup to ½ cup per flavor blend. That would mean doubling your Simple Syrup recipe.
  • Depending on how strong you prefer your wine flavor, you can experiment with more or less fruit and ice.
  • Freeze your glasses. Slushies start to melt as soon as they come in contact with a room temperature glass. I love to freeze my glasses in the freezer for at least an hour before serving to make mine melt-proof.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make my wine slushie stronger?

Instead of ice cubes, you can freeze a tray of white wine cubes and use them in your blender to avoid watering down your slushie.

How do I make my drink sweeter?

These white wine slushies will already have sweetness from the fruit and simple syrup, but if you would like to make them sweeter, you can add a tablespoon of honey or agave nectar to the recipe.

Does freezing wine ruin it?

While freezing could slightly change the flavor of the wine, it is usually unnoticeable and shouldn’t harm the wine’s flavor.

What is the best wine to use?

Use your favorite white wine. Keep in mind that if you choose a drier wine, you may neeed to add extra simple syrup to the recipe.

What is the best fruit to use?

Berries, stone fruits like peaches, mangos and cherries (that have been pitted and peeled) or pineapple chunks blend up the best.

  • 2 cups ice cubes divided
  • fresh strawberry and fresh pineapple slice to garnish if desired

Simple Syrup:

Instructions

  • Make the simple syrup by heating ½ cup water in a microwave-safe bowl (a glass measuring cup with a spout works great) for 1 minute. Remove the bowl from the microwave and add ½ cup of sugar and stir to dissolve the sugar. Set aside and allow to cool while you gather your remaining ingredients.
