Easy Homemade Soft Pretzel Bites

Our Soft Pretzel Bites recipe makes it quick and easy to recreate the traditional twisted treat because it doesn’t require yeast or flour, which comes with making a dough from scratch.

These soft pretzels start with a premade pizza dough with an elastic texture that makes it simple to roll out and cut into small pieces.

Soft and chewy inside and crispy on the outside, these homemade pretzel bites are placed in a boiling water baking soda solution and baked until beautifully brown.

This pretzel bite recipe is completely fool-proof: no fancy twisting, no kneading by hand, no hard-to-pronounce ingredients, no waiting for the dough to rise, and no stand mixer needed! When it comes to salty snacks, there is nothing more satisfying than a homemade soft pretzel.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I reheat these pretzel bites?

These bites are best served immediately. However, if you must reheat them, fill a small bowl with water, dip your finger in the water and run it over the top of the pretzel bites. The goal is to coat with a light layer of water; DO NO SOAK. Place on a foil-covered baking sheet and reheat at 350 for 5 minutes.

Do I have to use store-bought dough or can I make my own?

You can make your own dough with almost any basic dough recipe. I used a premade dough for my pretzels because I like to take a few shortcuts to save time when possible!

What gives these pretzels their soft texture and iconic flavor?

Baking soda is the key ingredient that gives these pretzels their texture and flavor. When heated, baking soda reacts with the dough, darkening the color, creating a chewy texture, and giving it its traditional flavor.
