Tortilla Pizza Rolls in the Air Fryer will be your new favorite snack!

Our Air Fryer Pizza Rolls recipe is a healthier option than the traditional air fried frozen pizza rolls (like Totino’s or Annie’s), and tastes so much better than the packaged store-bought snacks.

Preparing homemade pizza rolls is as easy as spreading sauce on a tortilla, topping it with pepperoni, cheese, or your favorite veggies and meats, and rolling it like a log before “baking” it to a golden brown.

I love air fryer recipes to make my favorite finger foods, especially because they cut the cooking time in half and they come out deliciously crispy without deep frying in oil.

While you can certainly prepare your air fryer pizza roll-ups with store-bought pizza dough (like my Homemade Pizza Pockets and Pepperoni Rolls), I prefer to use a soft taco shell as the base because it’s so simple to stuff with your favorite fillings.

Why We Love Air Fryer Pizza Rolls

  • Quick and easy to make in under 20 minutes total time.
  • Only uses 4 ingredients plus olive oil to brush on top.
  • Taste like the perfect pizza that’s cooked without the crust (like pizza logs).
  • Fun for kids to customize and fill with their favorite pizza toppings.
  • Prepared like a pizza egg roll but rolled in a tortilla instead of a wrapper.
  • Great grab and go lunch, Super Bowl snack, party appetizer, or simple supper.

How to make Pizza Rolls in Air Fryer

  1. Prepare The Pizza: Spread pizza sauce at the bottom of the flour tortilla, and layer pepperoni and cheese on top. Roll it up tightly.
  2. Cook: Lay the pizza rolls seam side down in the air fryer basket. Brush the tops with olive oil and cook at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 9-10 minutes, or until golden brown.
  3. Serve: Serve while warm. Enjoy!

Substitutions and Additions for Pizza Rolls in the Air Fryer

  • Vegan Version: For a vegan version, simply replace the pepperoni and dairy cheese with a variety of vegetables, like mushrooms, bell pepper, olives, onions, and spinach, and use a non-dairy cheese.
  • Pick Your Protein: Make your pizza roll ups without pepperoni and choose a different meat (or even make it meatless). Try bacon, sausage, shredded chicken, salami slices, and even veggie crumbles.
  • Cut The Carbs: To lower the carb count, use a low carb tortilla or wrap as the base and bake it like you would a regular taco tortilla.

Tips for Cooking Pizza Rolls in an Air Fryer

  • If the tortillas are either cold or a little on the stiff side, you can heat the tortillas in the microwave for 20-25 seconds to make them a bit more pliable.
  • You can use the string cheese straight out of the refrigerator, but allowing the cheese to come to room temperature will give a meltier pizza roll.
  • You can substitute vegetable oil for olive oil. I do not recommend brushing the pizza rolls with butter, as that may cause the tortilla to burn.

How to store Tortilla Pizza Rolls

  • To Store: Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • To Freeze: You can freeze the uncooked pizza rolls for up to 1 month. Allow the pizza rolls to thaw in the refrigerator overnight before cooking.
