Substitutions and Additions

  • Choose Your Chocolate: If you prefer you can make all dark chocolate-covered graham crackers, all milk chocolate-covered graham crackers, or even all white chocolate chocolate-covered graham crackers. I find the mix of dark and milk chocolates balances the sweetness and makes it enjoyable for adults and kids alike!
  • Decorate Your Desserts: Decorate your cookies with rainbow sprinkles, nonpareils, a drizzle of melted chocolate or peanut butter, M&Ms, crushed candy, chocolate chips, cookie crumbs, pretzel pieces, a sprinkle of sea salt, shredded coconut, crushed nuts, mini marshmallows….the options are endless!
  • Grab Your Grahams: I used classic honey graham crackers for this recipe, but feel free to experiment with chocolate graham crackers or cinnamon graham crackers.

How to Make Chocolate Covered Graham Crackers

  1. Melt: Microwave the milk and dark chocolate together in 20-second increments, stirring in between until smooth.
  2. Dip: Dip each graham cracker into the melted chocolate until covered and allow the excess to drip back into the bowl.
Pro Tip: If desired use a fork to create texture in the chocolate.
  3. Decorate: Decorate some squares with a drizzle of melted white chocolate or the dark and milk chocolate mixture, some with sprinkles, candy, or your favorite treats.
  4. Set And Serve: Freeze for 10 minutes or chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to set. Serve and enjoy!

Tips For Making Chocolate Graham Crackers

  • Do not overheat your chocolate. 20-second increments are perfect for safely heating chocolate in the microwave.
  • This recipe can be doubled for a large crowd but I still recommend making them in batches to properly heat the chocolate. For a larger batch, you can melt the chocolate over a double boiler.
  • Place the dipped crackers onto a parchment paper or wax paper lined cookie sheet to avoid sticking and for easy clean up.
  • Toffee bits and Christmas sprinkles are great for turning these into a festive treat. They really can be customized for any holiday or event!
  • Feel free to leave the topping off completely if you prefer.

How to Store Chocolate Covered Graham Crackers

  • To Store: Store your chocolate-dipped Grahams at room temperature in an airtight container for 3-4 days. Layer them with parchment paper, to prevent them from sticking to each other.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use chocolate chips instead of chocolate bars?

I prefer to use Belgian chocolate bars or disks for coating my graham crackers because I like how it melts smoothly and sets firm. However, you can use chocolate chips if you do not have the baking bars. In this case, I recommend adding coconut oil to the chocolate chips when melting it for the coating.

Can I freeze my chocolate Covered Graham crackers?

I do not recommend freezing your graham crackers. When the frozen covered graham crackers thaw and come to room temperature, the chocolate gets condensation on it and it may result in a less-than-pretty appearance. The graham crackers may also become soggy.
