Walking Strawberry Pretzel Salad

Our Walking Strawberry Pretzel Salad recipe uses the same concept as my Walking Banana Pudding, but it’s prepared like the classic sweet and salty side dish rather than solely as a sweet dessert.

Walking desserts couldn’t be any easier to make; it takes prepared instant pudding, fresh strawberries, and whipped topping and piles them into portable packages of mini pretzels.

With a similar flavor and texture combination as my strawberry pretzel dessert, assembling the food inside a single serving bag brings all the fun to any party without the mess or cleanup.

Tips For Making Walking Strawberry Pretzel Salad

  • You can make this recipe using vanilla pudding cups or if you can find them, the Jell-O strawberry cheesecake pudding cups. Most stores do not carry any cheesecake-flavored pudding cups.
  • You can prepare all the ingredients ahead of time, but I would assemble them right as you serve them so the pretzels stay nice and crunchy.
  • Make sure to fold the top of each bag down after cutting to allow for easier eating.

How to Store Walking Strawberry Pretzel Salad

  • To Store: These treats are best eaten immediately, but you can save any leftovers in the refrigerator for up to two days. Keep in mind that the pretzels will be very soft if you eat leftovers.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I can’t find cheesecake pudding?

I have had trouble finding any traditional varieties of cheesecake pudding in my area lately, but I recommend checking out Walmart. They seem to have a lot. If you can’t find it, you can use regular vanilla pudding and mix in some soft cream cheese if you want that cream cheese flavor.

Can I use frozen strawberries instead of fresh strawberries?

Yes, you can use frozen strawberries instead of fresh. Make sure to thaw and drain the strawberries before adding them to your pretzel bags. Leaving the juice in there can make the pretzels a little too soft.

Do these taste just like strawberry pretzel salad?

These snacks don’t taste exactly like a traditional strawberry pretzel salad because they don’t have that gelatin layer. However, they are similar in flavor and meant to be a quick grab-and-go dessert.

Can I make my own homemade whipped cream?

Yes, you can make your own homemade whipped cream. My recipe for Homemade Whipped Cream (Stabilized Recipe) is super easy!
