Substitutions and Additions

  • Serve It Spicier: If you want a spicier alternative, you can substitute medium to hot taco seasoning. You can also substitute shredded pepper jack cheese for the fiesta blend shredded cheese or add hot sauce on top of the finished taco bites.
  • Make With Other Meat: You can substitute ground turkey, ground chicken, or even ground pork for ground beef.
  • Taco Toppings: Top your tacos with shredded lettuce, shredded Mexican blend cheese, chopped onion, jalapeños, sour cream, guacamole, fresh lime, diced tomatoes, chopped cilantro, hot sauce, diced avocado, corn salsa, or any of your favorites.
  • Vegetarian Version: For a vegetarian version, simply omit the meat and use a meat alternative, black beans, refried beans, pinto beans, or cooked lentils instead of the beef.
  • Create Your Cups: If you can’t find wonton wrappers, flour tortillas cut into quarters would make a great substitution. You can even use Scoops tortilla chips for a no bake option.

How to Make Taco Bites

  1. Create Your Cups: Press 1 wonton wrapper into each muffin tin opening. Overlay the second wrapper and press it into the first wrapper. Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 8-10 minutes or until the wrappers are golden brown.
Pro Tip: The tips of the wonton wrappers may get a deeper golden color than the bottom.
  2. Brown The Beef: Cook the beef, breaking it into small pieces, until it is no longer pink. Add the taco seasoning and the water, stir to combine, and simmer for just a few minutes.
  3. Assemble The Appetizers: Add taco meat to each of the baked wonton cups and top with your favorite taco toppings. Serve immediately and enjoy!
