The Best Garlic Bread EVER!

Is there a better side dish than cheesy, buttery, garlic bread? I think not. This Cheesy Pull-Apart Bread is like garlic bread on steroids. It’s sooooo delicious and it makes the perfect side dish for just about any meal.

My family absolutely goes crazy for this stuff. We never have leftovers when I make it, and once you try it you’ll 100% see why! Not only is it super delicious, but it’s fun to eat as well.

Ingredients

Here are the ingredients you will need to make your pull-apart bread. I tend to have most of the seasonings and butter on hand. Typically I just have to stop at the store to pick up cheese and bread, which is another reason why this recipe is so darn easy!

  • 1 (14.5-ounce) country white sourdough bread, round
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning blend
  • ½ teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped and divided

How to Make Pull-Apart Garlic Bread

  1. Place the loaf of bread onto the foil-lined sheet pan. Slice 1-inch slices on the diagonal, then rotate and repeat to make a grid pattern.
Pro-Tip: Make sure that you do not cut all the way through to the bottom of your loaf. You want to slice down until ¼ inch is kept uncut from the bottom
cut grid pattern into the sourdough bread
  2. Gently open up the bread loaf so that it resembles a “bloomed” flower.
Pro-Tip: This will allow all the butter and cheesy goodness to get into all the crevices of the loaf.

  3. In a small bowl, stir together melted butter, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, rosemary, and one tablespoon of chopped parsley.
    mixed ingredients in a bowl
  4. Brush the butter mixture onto the loaf of sliced bread.
Pro-Tip: Make sure you get the butter into all the open crevices.
    stuff bread with cheese
  5. Gently stuff the shredded cheese into all the open crevices of the bread.
Pro-Tip: Do not pack it too tightly, and make sure that some of the cheese is sprinkled onto the top.

  6. Lightly tent the stuffed loaf with a piece of aluminum foil.
Pro-Tip: Gently sprayed with cooking spray so that the cheese does not stick.

  7. Bake for 10 minutes covered, then remove the foil and continue to bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is melty and the bread is lightly golden.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley.

About Our Recipe

  • To make it, you’ll stuff the slices of your bread with mozzarella cheese (aka: one of the best ingredients in the world). Then, you’ll bake it so that the cheese is gooey and melted. This makes it so that the bread is stuck together by the cheese. When you go to pull off a piece of the bread, the cheese comes with it! It’s so delicious!
  • This is such a great side dish for almost any entree. It obviously goes great with pasta dishes! It’s a wonderful alternative to store-bought garlic bread. It’s much tastier and just as easy to put together.
  • It also goes great as an appetizer or dish to share! It makes quite a bit, and it’s so delicious that people can’t help but munch on it. Not to mention, it makes for a really pretty centerpiece for any occasion. The brown bread with the accent of parsley flakes turns out really pretty!
  • Putting this together is actually quite simple. I have come to love this so much that I completely stopped buying store-bought garlic bread! This has changed the way I think about bread as a side dish, and I’m willing to bet it might do the same for you.

Pro-Tips

  • This can be served as a party appetizer along with a bowl of warmed marinara sauce.
  • You can substitute a round loaf of French bread or white mountain bread if you can not find sourdough bread for this recipe.
  • If you do not have an Italian seasoning blend, you can mix equal parts dried parsley, dried basil, and dried oregano. You can make a large batch and store the extras in an airtight jar in your spice pantry for future use.
