Halloween Chex Mix Ingredients
- Butter: The savory sauce base that coats the crunchy snacks.
- Brown sugar: Adds a deep caramel or toffee-like taste to the butter sauce.
- Pumpkin Pie Spice: Feel free to make your own spice mixture using cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, allspice, and cloves.
- Vanilla extract
- Honey Nut Chex cereal: Feel free to use Rice Chex cereal, Corn Chex cereal, Wheat Chex cereal, or even Crispix cereal in your mix. Keep in mind the overall flavor will be slightly different. Do not use Wheat Chex if you have a gluten sensitivity.
- Pretzels: Use your favorite bite-size pretzel twists.
- Caramel Bugles: Crispy cone-shaped sweet and salty corn snack adds a satisfying crunch!
- M&M’s: I love using a Gouhl’s Mix because it contains Halloween colors.
- Harvest candy mix: Sometimes called Autumn Mix, it’s a fun combination of candy corn and candy pumpkins.
- Reese’s Pieces: For more peanut butter flavor you can use mini Reese’s cups instead. Or even better, why not use them both!

My house smells amazing now lol. I’m not a pumpkin spice fan but this is not overwhelming and is very tasty. I think it will be the hit of the Halloween party!
Hi Christie! I love that smell!! Glad it was a hit!
Can’t wait to make this for our resident party this weekend. I’m actually making another recipe as well. Thank you for such easy and wonderful recipes!
Although I went to six grocery stores searching for ingredients, it was worth the hunt. I never did find the Booterscotch M & M’s so I substituted the dark chocolate variety. It’s cooling right now and we are excited to munch on the mix!
My brother sugar & butter needed to be more runny.
Is there a substitute if I can’t find caramel bugles?
You can really substitute any type of crunchy snack.
Love love love your Chex cereal mixes for all seasons. Christmas crack…oh yea!
Can this be made in a slow cooker and if so, how?
