Funfetti Cake Dip
Funfetti Dip combines the flavor of funfetti cake batter with the smooth and creamy consistency of a dessert dip. Serve it with a variety of cookies, crackers, or fresh fruit for a whimsical way to bring back the fun childhood treat vibes!
This Funfetti cake mix dip recipe looks and tastes just like raw cake batter, but comes without the risk of food-borne illness. Since this no bake dessert dip is eggless and uses heat-treated flour, you can safely sneak a spoonful straight from the bowl even before diving in with your dippers!
What Is Funfetti Dip
Funfetti’s flavor can best be described as light and buttery with a strong vanilla flavor. It is most identifiable by the rainbow sprinkles mixed into the batter. Funfetti cake is often known as confetti cake because of its resemblance to colorful confetti.
This easy dessert dip, sometimes called Dunkaroo Dip, combines the funfetti cake batter flavor with a creamy, smooth mixture to create the perfect sweet dip! With colorful sprinkles mixed into the batter and more sprinkled on top, you can’t beat a funfetti cake batter dip recipe that comes together so quickly!

Ingredients For The Perfect Funfetti Dip
- Cream Cheese: Be sure to soften the cream cheese to room temperature before beginning the recipe. For a healthier, protein-packed Dunkaroo dip, you can use plain Greek yogurt as a substitute for cream cheese. However, this will slightly alter the flavor and texture. You may want to add vanilla extract or try vanilla yogurt to make it less tangy.
- Whipped Topping: Cool Whip or homemade Whipped Cream
- Funfetti Cake Mix: If you cannot find funfetti cake mix you can substitute it with vanilla cake mix, french vanilla cake mix, or your favorite cake mix and add sprinkles to your batter.
- Heavy Cream: Heavy cream adds richness and helps achieve the fluffy, whipped texture.
- Sprinkles: While these are not required because the box of cake mix comes with sprinkles in the mix, food is always more fun with some extra mixed in the batter and more sprinkled on top!
See the recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities.
How to Make Funfetti Dip In Just 10 Minutes
- Make The Creamy Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the cream cheese and whipped topping until smooth.
- Fold In The Funfetti: Use a rubber spatula to fold in the heat-treated cake mix and half of the cream, gradually adding more cream until the desired texture is reached. (See instructions for heat-treating uncooked cake mix below)
- Sprinkle And Serve: Top with rainbow sprinkles and serve with your favorite dippers. Enjoy!

How to Heat Treat Flour to Make Sure It Is Safe To Eat
When consuming raw cake mix it is always important to heat treat it first to properly kill any chance of bacteria. I always recommend heat treating the cake mix before mixing it in the dip to avoid food-borne illnesses. Please do not skip this step.
Heat treat your cake mix in the microwave—Just place the raw mix in a microwave-safe bowl and heat it for up to one minute (30-second intervals and mixing in between). Place a candy thermometer in the center of the bowl to make sure that it has reached 160 degrees. Let it cool before mixing it in the dip.
Heat treat your cake mix in the oven – Bake your cake mix by spreading it on a parchment-lined baking sheet and baking it at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 8-10 minutes. Allow to cool.
Serving Suggestions
Funfetti Dip is perfect for birthday parties, game day snacking, potlucks, holidays, or family get-togethers. Serve it with your favorite sweet or salty snacks for dipping and scooping.
My favorites include animal crackers, graham crackers, vanilla wafers, pretzels, teddy grahams, strawberries, banana slices, and even marshmallows. It’s so delicious that you’ll want to skip the dippers and eat it straight from the spoon!

Tips & Variations
- Cut the Calories: For a lighter version, replace the regular cream cheese and Cool Whip with reduced-fat cream cheese and Cool Whip.
- Before You Begin, Make sure to soften your cream cheese to room temperature before mixing it. If you don’t, your dip will be lumpy.
Proper Storage
- To Store: You can store your funfetti dip in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days.
- To Freeze: Do not freeze this dip. The texture will be grainy when thawed.
- Make Ahead: Prepare the dip according to the recipe, cover it tightly with plastic wrap or store it in an airtight container, and keep it in the refrigerator it for 1-2 days.

can you substitute more heavy cream in the place of the whipped topping?
I have not tried this so I really am not certain. Sorry!
Hi I’m in Australia and we don’t have some of the things your recipes call for if you can suggest a suitable substitute for them that would be good thanks looking forward to trying your recipes
Is this really ok to eat has raw flour in it? Just researched it and youโre not suppose to eat uncooked cake flour?
A simple solution is to heat the cake mix on the stove in a non stick pan. “Cooking” the flour will remove any possibility of concerns.
If you are at all concerned do the following:
You just need to toast the flour first. This adds a few minutes on to the recipe!
Preheat oven to 350.
Place a silicon baking mat, or parchment paper on a baking pan.
Spread the flour on the pan and then bake for 10 minutes.
Let cool.
Well, I have eaten raw cake batter my entire life! Lol. Iโm 55!! Good to know now, huh? In fact, just ate some the other day!
