Dill Pickle Dip is one of those recipes that blends the zesty diced dill cucumber with a creamy base, herbs, and spices into the most delicious dip that’s perfect for any party.

The tang and crunch of pickles completely complements the cool and rich cream cheese mixture–once you start scooping, you’ll find it hard to stop!

What makes my recipe stand out from the others (and taste even creamier than the competition) is that I’ve thinned my mixture with a bit of mayo and sour cream so that the dip isn’t too heavy to be held by a variety of veggies and chips. It is so easy to make this appetizer and share it with your favorite dipping companions, but beware of its addictive dill flavor because it’s so hard to resist the double-dipped chip!

  • Cream Cheese (Softened)
  • Mayonnaise: I used Hellman’s in this recipe but you can use your favorite brand.
  • Sour cream
  • Pickle juice
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • Fresh dill, finely chopped
  • Dill pickles: I used Vlasic Zesty Pickles, but any pickle will work!

Substitutions and Additions

  • Pick Your Pickle: Using “zesty” pickles adds a great flavor profile to this dip, which taste like extra garlic and spicy chili. If you like milder flavors feel free to use regular dill pickles. Any brand will do!
  • Make It Without Mayo: You can use additional sour cream instead of the mayo, which adds a smooth texture and tangy flavor to your dill pickle dip. Greek yogurt works as a great substitute, too.
  • Flavor: Adding diced onion to your dip gives it a pop of savory flavor. Jalapeños, a dash of Chili powder, a pinch of cayenne or red pepper flakes, or paprika can also add great flavor–a little heat plays perfectly with the zesty flavor of dill! If you want to add another dimension of flavor, you can add a packet of ranch dressing mix.
  • Make It With Meat: Feel free to add in your favorite diced meats. Some tasty options are ham, pepperoni, dried beef, salami, and deli turkey.

  1. Mix cream cheese with an electric mixer until light and creamy.

    Pro Tip: I recommend chilling the dip for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld. Once you chop the pickles, I like to drain the juice that comes out. Simply press down on the chopped pickles and drain off the juice that’s in the measuring cup. This is to ensure the dip isn’t too thin since there is additional liquid to add to the dip.

What type of dill pickles do you use?

Any pickle brand will do! My favorite pickles to use for this dip are the Kosher dill pickle spears because the spears are easy to chop and they have a great flavor. I have used the baby dill pickles and whole pickles in the past and they both work fine.

What should I serve with my Dill Pickle Dip?

Ruffled potato chips are my favorite dipper. Veggies, such as cucumbers, bell peppers, grape tomatoes, or carrots, crackers, pita chips, and pretzels also work well.

  • 8 ounce package of cream cheese (softened)

  • 2 tbsp pickle juice
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp onion powder
  • 1-2 tsp finely chopped fresh dill
  • 1 cup diced dill pickles (I used Vlasic Zesty Pickles) approximately 3-4 large pickles – extra diced pickles and dill for garnish
