Coconut Lime Ginger Body Scrub

We recently got home from an incredible Alaska cruise aboard the beautiful Ruby Princess. It was one of the most spectacular trips we have ever taken and what is really great about cruising is that you get to see many different locations without having to move hotels! The other great thing about cruising are the countless amenities on board the ship.

We got to enjoy a few relaxing sea days on the Ruby Princess and really got to take advantage of all there was to do. We loved the casino, took some amazing TRX classes in the fitness center, learned how to make our own specialty martinis, had THE MOST AMAZING dinner at the limited seating Chef’s Table – but one of my favorite (and most relaxing) activities was the Lotus Spa – OMG this spa was incredible!

There were a ton of different options at the spa, but I chose to do a 90-minute Exotic Lime & Ginger Salt Glow Massage. This was seriously amazing – the Lime and Ginger scrub they used exfoliated my dry skin and kept it feeling replenished and vibrant! I couldn’t wait to try to make my own at home and WOW – the results were amazing. BUT the best news….it is ridiculously easy to make (I still would prefer it with the 90 minute massage on the Ruby Princess, but beggars can’t be choosers!!) – p.s. – If you are looking for other amazing beauty hacks you can do with coconut, check out my friend Alison’s post for this coconut oil hair treatment – it is supposed to make your hair super smooth & shiny –see it here!

How to make you own Coconut Lime Ginger Body Scrub!

Here is what you need:

  • 3 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon lime zest
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 3 drops ginger essential oil
  • 6 drops lime essential oil

Here is what you do:

Did I mention this was easy? All you do is grab a small bowl and mix all of the ingredients together! You can add more lime or ginger essential oil to increase the scent to your preference! Don’t worry if the mixture gets firmer after it sits for a while (I made a jar and left it in my shower). All you have to do is rub it in your hands and it will soften almost immediately.
