Bunny Butt Cheese Ball Dessert Dip

Our adorable Bunny Butt Cheesecake Cheese Ball Cookie Dip is a quick and easy no bake Easter dessert spread that turns a traditional savory cream cheese ball into the cutest sweet treat.

This Easter dip is a simple combination of cream cheese, cake mix, vanilla, white chocolate chips, and sprinkles, separated into 3 sizes, rolled into balls, and formed into one large bunny butt with a tail and two feet.

Each cream cheese ball is rolled in shaved white chocolate to look like fluffy fur and then assembled as one big “booty,” a tail, and feet with pink M&M pads.

Surround your Easter bunny butt with an assortment of sweet and savory dipping snacks and serve it as a fun appetizer or dessert cheese ball dip, although no one will know if you eat it straight from the spoon!

Substitutions and Additions

  • Other Fur Options: Instead of rolling each cream cheese ball into shaved white chocolate, you can opt for coconut flakes or crushed golden Oreos to create the bunny fur.
  • Make With Another Mix: The Funfetti cake mix makes this Easter cheese ball a bit more fun, colorful, and festive, but you can use a white or yellow cake mix if you prefer.
  • Serving Suggestions: Serve your dip with an assortment of cookies, fresh fruit, or your favorite snacks. Some ideas are graham crackers, vanilla wafers, animal crackers, shortbread cookies, waffle cone pieces, marshmallows, pretzels, and apple slices.
  1. Make The Mixture: Mix together the cream cheese, white chocolate chips, sprinkles, cake mix, and vanilla.
  2. Prepare The Bunny Parts: Separate the cream cheese mixture to form one large ball, two medium size balls, and one small ball. Roll each cream cheese ball into shaved white chocolate.
  3. Assemble: Use the large ball for the bunny butt, the two medium size balls for the feet, and the small ball for the tail. Flatten the feet and form them in a slight oval shape, then press four M&Ms into each one.
  4. Serve: Serve with cookies, pretzels, of your choice of dippers. Enjoy!
  • I like to assemble the bunny butt right on the serving platter so that I won’t have to move it.
  • Cover your dip with plastic wrap and store in the refrigerator if you are not serving right away.
  • You can use toothpicks to hold the tail and feet in place if they are not sticking to the body.

How to Heat Treat Cake Mix

When consuming raw cake mix it is always important to heat treat the flour. I highly recommend heat treating the cake mix prior to mixing it in the dip to properly kill any chance of bacteria. Please do not skip this step!

To heat treat the cake mix in the microwave, heat the cake mix in a microwave safe bowl for (2) 30-second intervals stirring in between. Allow the cake mix to come to room temperature before using.

To heat treat the cake mix in the oven, place cake mix on a large cookie sheet prepared with parchment paper. Evenly spread your cake mix out to cover the entire sheet. Cook cake mix at 350 degrees for 5 minutes and allow it to come to room temperature before use.

  • To Store: You can store the cheese ball covered in your refrigerator for a few days.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why heat treat the cake mix?

It is important to heat treat the dry cake mix before adding it to the cream cheese. Flour in uncooked batter can cause sickness and can carry bacteria. So, a quick heat treatment is needed to ensure that those germs are killed off. It’s super easy to do this by placing it in the microwave or oven for 1-2 minutes.

What is the best way to soften the cream cheese?

The best way to soften your cream cheese is by keeping it in the package for a few hours at room temperature. However, you can carefully heat it up in the microwave (be sure to remove the wrapper first!) in increments of 20 seconds at a lower power. If you don’t soften your cream cheese, your dip will come out lumpy.

Can I freeze this dip?

I do not recommend freezing the dip. You can make it the day or night before and keep it covered in the fridge.
