Caramel Apple Sangria

Our easy Apple Cider Sangria recipe is a delightful and refreshing cocktail that combines the crispness of apple cider and the lightness of Pinot Grigio with the sweetness of caramel syrup.

With the same flavors as our Apple Cider Doughnut Cake and our Apple Cider Martini, and just a few ingredients and 10 minutes total time. You will be sipping on an apple caramel sangria cocktail that tastes like you’ve poured a slice of apple pie from a pitcher.

Bursting with sweet fruity flavors and warm cinnamon spice, there’s nothing better than transforming a traditional summer staple into an apple sangria caramel cocktail for fall.

Why We Love Apple Cider Sangria

  • Quick and easy to make in minutes.
  • Uses a handful of simple ingredients.
  • Delicious sweet drink that tastes like dessert!
  • An apple pie sangria to be sipped instead of sliced.
  • Tastes like the carnival snack on a stick, but better because it’s boozy!
  • Sangria caramel apple cocktails are perfect for cozy nighttime gatherings, seasonal parties, or serving as sunny afternoon treats.

Caramel Apple Sangria Ingredients

  • Apple
  • Pear
  • Whole cinnamon sticks
  • Apple cider: I prefer fresh apple cider, but any store-bought apple cider will work well. Use apple cider, not apple juice, for the perfect fall flavor profile. You can also try our Homemade Apple Cider.
  • Pinot Grigio
  • Caramel syrup: I used Torani brand but feel free to use your favorite.

Substitutions and Additions

  • Garnish Your Glass: Garnish your glass with an apple slice, cinnamon stick, star anise, caramels on a skewer, or raw sugar along the rim. For an added garnish, you can drizzle or swirl caramel sauce  (sundae topping- not the Torani syrup) around the inside of the glass before pouring the sangria in.
  • Pick Your Produce: Use your favorite apple and pear variety. Choose crisp, sweet apple varieties like Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala. For the pears, options like Bartlett or Anjou work well. You can also mix and match different apple and pear varieties.
  • Sip Something Stronger: If you want something stronger, add a cup of vodka or caramel vodka to the sangria mixture.
  • Make A Bubbly Beverage: Top off each glass with a splash of sparkling water for a sparkling apple cider variation.

How to Make Caramel Apple Sangria

Tips For Making Caramel Apple Sangria

  • You will find your ‘sweet spot’ (pun intended) of chill time with experience. The longer your sangria sits, the more the fruit releases its fresh flavor into the drink, giving you the perfect balance of tastes. I like about 6-8 hours.
  • To make a sugar rim, moisten the edge of the glass with a cut apple slice, or even the caramel syrup. Then pour some turbinado sugar onto a small plate and dip the top of the glass in it, making sure it is all immersed in the sugar.

How to Store Caramel Apple Sangria

  • To Store: If you have leftover sangria, you can store the pitcher in the fridge for up to 2 days.

Frequently Asked Questions

What type of apple cider works best for caramel apple sangria?

Any good quality, preferably unfiltered, apple cider works well for this sangria. I love to buy fresh apple cider at the apple orchard.

Can I use a different type of wine instead of Pinot Grigio?

Pinot Grigio’s light and crisp profile pairs well with the apple and caramel flavors. However, Sauvignon Blanc also works well. If you like an even sweeter sangria, you can use a Moscato or a Riesling.
