Why We Love This White Castle Sliders Recipe
- Better than carry out White Castle hamburgers or the frozen sliders from the grocery
- Easy to make in the oven
- Makes a big batch all at once
- Top with your favorite burger toppings
Ingredients
- 12 dinner rolls
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 tbsp Better Than Bouillon Beef
- ¼ tsp garlic powder
- 1 cup yellow onion, finely chopped
- 10-12 Kraft American Cheese Slices, cut each slice into 4 squares
- 20-24 dill pickle chips
- ¼ cup water
- ⅛ tsp salt
- ⅛ tsp ground black pepper
- Ketchup and mustard (optional)
Substitutions & Additions
- Bouillon: If you can’t get the Better Than Bouillon Beef, then you can use granulated beef bouillon in its place. Don’t make the sliders without this as they won’t have as much taste.
- Dill Pickle: If you aren’t a fan of dill pickle, there are a few things you can add in its place. You could try gherkin, cornichon (French pickled gherkin) or lime pickles, all of which will add a little something unique to the slider.
- Bread Rolls: For something a little different, try Hawaiian rolls in place of normal dinner rolls. These have a tropical taste due to the pineapple juice in the mixture.

- Cut into 12 equal squares. Using the end of a spoon, create 5 holes in each patty.
- Place in the freezer for 3 hours. Remove the beef tray from the freezer and pull patties apart. Add onions to the bottom of the baking sheet. Add water to the onions.
- Place frozen patties on top of the onions and water. Sprinkle it with salt and pepper. Place in the oven for 10 minutes.
- Take the sheet out of the oven and place the bottom of a dinner roll on each patty. Then place the bottom of the dinner rolls staggered over the bottom pieces. Place the sheet back in the oven for 3 minutes.
- Take the sheet out and use a spatula to scoop up each patty with onions and the bottom bun attached. Add 3 cheese slices to each slider.
- Add optional condiments and serve the sliders immediately.
How to Store
Store everything separately in the fridge until you are ready to make the cheeseburgers. If you don’t want to use all of the cooked patties immediately, you can also store them in the fridge. If you have leftover sliders after they are cooked, simply store them in an airtight container and place them in the fridge.
You can also freeze any sliders that aren’t eaten. Pop them in a freezer-safe bag and make sure you use them within a month. Thaw them in the refrigerator before microwaving to reheat. To reheat your sliders place them in the microwave with a damp sheet of paper towel and cook on half power for around 1 minute 20 seconds for 2 sliders or until hot.
You have to try out these copycat sliders at your next party! They will be the perfect appetizer or meal. The burgers are so flavorful and delicious. Best of all, it’s so simple to make a big batch and feed a crowd with this slider recipe. Enjoy!

Jenn’s Notes
- In The Refrigerator: Store leftover sliders in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days. If you are preparing in advance, make sure to store everything separately in the fridge until you are ready to cook the cheeseburgers.
- In The Freezer: For longer storage, wrap the cooled and assembled sliders in aluminum foil or plastic wrap, then place them in a freezer bag. They can be frozen for up to 2-3 months. Thaw the in the refrigerator before reheating.
- To Reheat: To reheat your sliders place them in the microwave with a damp sheet of paper towel and cook on half power for around 1 minute 20 seconds for 2 sliders or until hot. You can also wrap them in foil and heat in a 350°F oven for 10–12 minutes.
- Make sure not to let the bottom of your buns touch the water or they’ll soak up the liquid.
- Finely chop the onions, spread them evenly on the pan, and then cook the patties on top of the onions. This will allow the steam to infuse the beef and buns with the signature slider flavor.
- Place the buns directly on top of the cooking patties. The steam from the onions and beef keeps the buns soft and moist while absorbing the flavor.
- Those five holes are not for decoration! They allow the burger to be cooked without flipping.

Just made these for dinner, burgers are amazing and house smells so good!
Didnโt have the bouillon but just added some extra salt, garlic powder and onion powder and they still taste amazing. Thank you!
Very authentic tasting. We have missed the occasional White Castle fix after moving to Georgia. This definitely fixes the craving! Thank you!
Do you cover the burgers/sliders with foil or anything when you put it in the oven?
Even I couldn’t mess this up!
My husband dices 2 onions Vidalia and Yellow and when followed per directions they do indeed steam. Very clever and thank you!
When you punch 5 holes is it all the way through?
Yes, I punched them all the way through the meat.
