Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries are a healthy alternative to traditional steak fries, and can be cut and coated in a spice mixture in only 5 minutes.

Cooking potatoes in an air fryer uses less oil than conventional deep frying or baking, which means each crisp and soft slice contains less fat and calories than the traditional skinny french fry.

Filled with an abundance of vitamin A, antioxidants, and fiber, this superfood can be served as a nutritious side to your main meal or as a healthy snack that also tastes delicious when dipped in sauce.

Tips

  • Be very careful when cutting sweet potatoes! Use a sharp knife and a non-slip cutting board.
  • Dry your sweet potatoes with a paper towel before adding the spices and oil to prevent soggy wedges.
  • All air fryers are different. I used the Cosori Air fryer for this recipe. You may have to adjust time and temperature if you have a different model.
  • Do not overcrowd your air fryer. If the basket is too crowded, the fries will not get the crispy texture you crave. If you have a small air fryer, simply cook in two batches.

Storage Tips

  • To Store: Leftovers can be stored for 2-3 days in an air-tight container in the refrigerator.
  • To Freeze: Do not freeze cooked sweet potato fries.
  • To Reheat: For the best results, reheat sweet potato french fries in the air fryer for 5 – 10 minutes unity warm and crispy. You can also microwave them, however they will not be as crispy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these wedges super crispy?

These wedges are not super crispy. They are crispier than roasted potatoes but not as crisp as
fries. Experiment with your air fryer timing to get the best results for your preference.

What is the best way to heat my sweet potato wedges?

Serve these wedges immediately if possible. If you cannot serve them right away, they can be kept in a warm oven at 200 degrees or reheated in the air fryer or a toaster oven.
Leftovers can be kept for 2-3 days in an air-tight container in the refrigerator. If they are reheated in the microwave they will be more like a baked or roasted potato texture.

Why are my wedges soggy

If your wedges are soggy, it is likely because you over-crowded them in the basket. For the best, most crispy results, cook the sweet potato wedges in a single layer so that the air has room to circulate.

Do I need to peel my potato prior to cooking?

Whether or not you leave the skin on a sweet potato prior to cooking is entirely up to you! You do not need to peel a sweet potato prior to cooking them in the air fryer. The skins of sweet potatoes are safe to eat, both raw and cooked, and contain nutrients such as fiber and antioxidants.

What are the health benefits of sweet potatoes?

Just one cup of sweet potato has more than 100% of your recommended daily value of vitamin A, 65% of vitamin C, 50% of manganese, 29% of vitamin B6, and 27% of potassium. These tasty vegetables also have antioxidants, protein, and fiber, and they have fewer calories than white potatoes.
