Who knew that making a delicious latte at home could be so easy? This homemade version has only four easy steps, and the ingredients are all things that you can easily find at the grocery store. There is no need to have an espresso machine or milk frother, and there is absolutely no need for anything fancy.

If you like your coffee drinks on ice, no need to worry. This recipe can easily be made like like a cold brew coffee as well. It’s delicious either way!

You will feel like your own barista making this copycat Starbucks pumpkin spice latte, and you’ll be shocked at how easy it is and the taste is just like a PSL. It’s time to sit back, relax, grab your mug and enjoy everyone’s favorite fall coffee drink.

Ingredients Notes

pumpkin spice latte ingredients

The ingredients below are what you will need to make a single pumpkin spice latte. However, you could definitely make multiple lattes by doubling or tripling the ingredients. It would also be really easy to make one every day for multiple days in a row after just one trip to the store.

  • Whole milk – You can use any type of milk as the base for your latte. Just like when you go to your favorite coffee shop, you have the option of your preferred milk. For a lower-fat option, use 2% or skim milk. Plant-based alternatives like oat, almond, or soy milk can be used for dairy-free lattes.
  • Unsweetened pumpkin puree – Provides a pumpkin flavor and a natural sweetness and moisture. You can use real pumpkin, canned pumpkin or homemade pumpkin puree. Be sure not to use Pumpkin Pie Mix or Pumpkin Pie Filling.
  • Granulated white sugar – Substitute brown sugar for a richer flavor, maple syrup for a more natural sweetness, or honey for a touch of complexity. You can also use artificial sweetener or agave if you prefer.
  • Vanilla extract
  • Pumpkin pie spice – This provides quintessential flavor for a pumpkin spice latte. Combines cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves for a classic taste.
  • Brewed coffee—It’s best to brew a fresh pot of coffee to use. However, if you plan to make an iced latte, you could buy a store-bought jug of your favorite coffee or cold brew to add in place of brewing coffee yourself.
  • Vanilla creamer—Just like the milk, you have options when it comes to the creamer. I prefer to use a vanilla almond milk creamer, but you can also use an oat milk creamer, coconut milk creamer, or regular creamer. You could also opt for using an unflavored creamer, such as half and half.
  • Optional: Whipped cream, cinnamon and pumpkin pie spice for the top.

Tips for your PSL

  • If you want to make an iced latte and you prefer to make the coffee at home, brew a pot of coffee the day before you want to make your latte. Let the coffee cool down, then place it in the fridge. This will give you homemade iced coffee!
  • This is a great way to use leftover coffee. You can put it in the fridge as suggested above and make an iced latte, or warm up the coffee when you want to use it in this recipe.
  • Stirring your latte well is key, the ingredients will begin to separate otherwise. I prefer to use a small whisk
  • Freeze the leftover pumpkin puree in Tablespoon servings (using an ice tray or something similar), then simply pull one out when you want a pumpkin spice latte.
