Substitutions and Additions

  • Drunken Gummy Bear Drink: It is easy to booze up your bears and make this a Drunken Gummy Bear Drink! Simply place the gummy bears in glass container and pour in enough vodka to completely cover the candy. Allow them to absorb the vodka for up to 24 hours depending on strong you want them to be. Then they are ready to skewer and garnish your glass.
  • Create Your Own Colored Creation: You can customize your drink with almost any gummy bear flavors you like. The secret to creating layers is the sugar content. The thickest fluids have the highest sugar content and will sink to the bottom. The liquid with the lowest sugar content will remain on top of the liquid with a higher sugar content.
  • Blender

How to Make Gummy Bear Drinks

  1. Make The Red Layer: Blend the ice, frozen strawberries, strawberry daiquiri mix, and triple sec liqueur until smooth. Pour half the red mixture into the bottom of each glass.
  2. Make The Yellow Layer: Blend the ice, frozen pineapple chunks, pineapple juice, and malibu rum until smooth.
Pro Tip: Rinse your blender container with cool water before adding the ingredients for the yellow layer. Pour the yellow mixture over each of the red layers. You can use a large spoon to gently add this layer so that you do not blend the colors too much.
  3. Make The Blue Layer: Blend the ice and blue curacao until smooth. Pour the blue mixture to the top of each gummy bear cocktail.
  4. Serve: Garnish with a cocktail skewer of a variety of colored gummy bears. Enjoy!

Tip From Our Recipe Developer

  • If you want your layers to be a little more blended (not completely combined) you can use a straw to gently stir your gummy bear cocktail. This will give a subtle look to the changing colored layers.
  • I used (2) 10 oz. capacity highball glasses for this recipe.
  • If you have an extra blender container, I would use it so that you do not have to take the time to rinse between the red and yellow layers. You do not have to wash the container, just a good rinse in cool water will do.

Storage

  • To Store: This drink is best served immediately after blending.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I Prepare My Frozen Drinks in Advance?

For best results, I recommend blending and serving this drink right away. The ice will begin to melt in the refrigerator and freezing the layered mixtures will result in most of it being frozen into a block of ice, aside from any portions of alcohol that may resist freezing.

Does the Order of the Layers Matter in a Layered Cocktail?

The way you layer this drink is not a choice, but rather it is based upon the sugar content (thickness) of each liquid.
In this recipe, the blue curacao is thicker than both the mailbu rum and triple sec liqueur, so it’s at the bottom.
The triple sec liqueur is the thinnest, so it’s at the top.
If you layered the drink differently, then the layers would be more likely to bleed through, especially as the ice begins to melt.

How to Infuse Gummy Bears with Alcohol?

It is easy to infuse gummy bears with alcohol! Fill a glass container with gummy bears and cover them with liquor. Cover and refrigerate for 12 to 24 hours. Drain any excess alcohol and then use the drunken candy to garnish your glass.

  • Rinse your blender container with cool water before adding the ingredients for the yellow layer.
  • To the blender container add the ice, frozen pineapple chunks, pineapple juice and malibu rum. Blend on high for 30 seconds to 1 minute or until smooth.
