Cookie Dough Pretzel Bites combine sweet and salty tastes in one no-bake treat. They are made with safe-to-eat, eggless raw cookie dough sandwiched between two pretzels and dipped in milk chocolate.

Our Pretzel Cookie Dough Bites recipe lets you safely indulge in uncooked batter, even without baking! If you love cookie dough but worry about the risk of foodborne illness, I’ve got great news! You can safely stuff Edible Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough in between mini pretzels, dip it in chocolate, and eat it straight from the fridge or freezer!

While I love using salty pretzels to make open-faced sandwiches (say hello to my M&M pretzel hugs, Rolo pretzels, and spring flower pretzel bites), sometimes I like my treat to have a second square on top so I can stuff it with something sweet.

If you have a little bit more time, you can prepare your bites without the store-bought package and make my Edible Cookie Dough recipe instead! I’ve made my raw cookie dough edible by eliminating the eggs (I use milk in its place to give our dough the added moisture it needs) AND using heat-treated flour (Eggs and untreated flour are highly likely to contain contaminants like Salmonella and E. coli).

Since this cookie dough does not contain any leavening ingredients, it is not recommended to bake into chocolate chip cookies.

  • Edible chocolate chip cookie dough: Choose a brand of refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough labeled “safe to eat raw,” such as Pillsbury, Nestle Toll House, and Ben & Jerry’s. Ensure it uses pasteurized eggs and heat-treated flour. You can use any flavor of edible cookie dough from the refrigerated section or make your own from scratch.
  • Mini pretzels: I used square-shaped pretzels, but standard mini pretzel twists will also work in this recipe. You can use gluten-free pretzels if you have a gluten sensitivity.
  • Milk chocolate melting wafers: You can substitute the milk chocolate melts with semi sweet chocolate for a darker chocolate flavor. Chocolate almond bark or good-quality milk chocolate chips can also be used. Follow the package instructions for melting your particular brand of chocolate.
  • Rainbow Jimmies sprinkles: Colorful sprinkles make these treats feel more festive. For a special occasion, customize the colors or simply sprinkle the chocolate-covered pretzel bites with sea salt.

  1. Assemble: Press a square of edible chocolate chip cookie dough in between 2 mini pretzels.
  2. Freeze: Freeze for 20 minutes.
  3. Melt: Microwave the chocolate melting wafers on high for 1 minute, stir, heat again for 30 seconds, then stir until smooth.
  4. Dip The Dough Bites: Dip each pretzel cookie dough bite halfway into the melted chocolate and sprinkle the chocolate portion with rainbow colored jimmies.
  5. Set And Serve: Place the pretzel cookie dough bites back into the freezer for 10 minutes, or until the chocolate has hardened and set completely. Serve and enjoy!
Assemble the pretzels in the baking sheet. Press cookie dough in the baking sheet. Press a mini pretzel on top of the cookie dough. Dip each pretzel cookie dough bite halfway into the melted chocolate. Sprinkle the chocolate portion with rainbow colored jimmies.

Scoop out 24 1-tablespoon-sized cookie dough balls, then gently roll them in your palm to smooth and shape into a 1-inch thick square. Then press the dough between the square mini pretzels.
  • Try With Twists: If using mini pretzel twists, gently roll each of the pre-portioned chocolate chip cookie dough pieces into a smooth ball for more uniform chocolate-dipped bites.
  • Decorate The Dip: You can decorate these sweet and salty cookie dough bites with fun and festive colors after you dip them in chocolate. Try using colorful sprinkles, sanding sugar, crushed pretzel pieces, a contrasting colored chocolate drizzle, or even mini chocolate chips.
  • Prepare With Peanut Butter: Stuff your chocolate pretzel bites with something other than cookie dough. My Peanut Butter Pretzel Bites taste like a Buckeye ball sandwiched between two chocolate-dipped pretzels.

  • 16 ounces package refrigerated pre-portioned edible chocolate chip cookie dough Pillsbury brand – safe to eat raw
  • 48 square mini pretzels
  • 10 ounces package milk chocolate melting wafers Ghirardelli brand
  • ½ cup rainbow jimmies sprinkles

Instructions
 

  • Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
  • Remove the pre-portioned edible chocolate chip cookie dough from the package. These should be pre-shaped in a 1 tablespoon sized square. If not, see tips below to measure and shape the cookie dough.

  • Gently press a single square mini pretzel onto both of the flat, square, sides of a single portion of edible chocolate chip cookie dough. You will use two square mini pretzels per one pre-portioned cookie dough. Place the cookie dough bite onto the prepared baking sheet and repeat until all the pretzel cookie dough bites have been assembled.

  • Place the pretzel cookie dough bites into the freezer for 20 minutes.
  • To a small microwave safe bowl, add the milk chocolate melting wafers. Heat on high for 1 minute, stir, heat again for 30 seconds then stir until smooth.

  • Remove the pretzel cookie dough bites from the freezer. Dip a single pretzel cookie dough bite halfway into the melted milk chocolate, sprinkle the chocolate coated portion of the bite with rainbow jimmies sprinkles then place it back onto the parchment lined baking sheet. Repeat until all the pretzel cookie dough bites have been coated.
    ½ cup rainbow jimmies sprinkles
  • Place the chocolate-dipped and sprinkle-coated pretzel cookie dough bites back into the freezer for 10 minutes, or until the chocolate has hardened and set completely, before transferring them to a plate to serve.
