Pecan Rolo Pretzels

Our Rolo Pretzel recipe is so quick and easy to make, using only chocolate-covered chewy caramel candy, crunchy pretzels, and pecans pressed on top (or use M&Ms if you prefer).

When prepared with pecans, these Rolo pretzel bites taste just like turtles candy, but when you make them with M&Ms instead, they can be customized with different colors depending on the holiday, season, or celebration.

A pretzel Rolo recipe is a fun activity for kids – let them unwrap the Rolos while you preheat the oven, place a piece of chocolate caramel candy on top of each pretzel, and press a small-sized sweet or savory treat into the melted middle.

Substitutions and Additions

  • Pick Your Pretzel: Be sure the pretzels are small, like square pretzel snaps or mini twists, to help with the pretzel to rolo ratio! You can even use gluten-free pretzels if you have a gluten sensitivity.
  • Prepare Without Pecans: Any small candy, nut, seed, dried fruit, or your favorite snack that’s small enough to fit on top of the Rolo can be used for a topping in this recipe! You can drizzle melted chocolate over them or press another pretzel on top to prepare it sandwich-style!
  • Replace The Rolo: You can replace the Rolo with mini peanut butter cups or Hershey kisses, following the same directions.
  • Make With M&Ms: Feel free to use different colored M&M’s (instead of pecans) to create festive Rolo pretzel candy. Use red and green M&Ms for Christmas, red and pink for Valentine’s Day, orange and brown for Halloween, or customize the colors to match your party theme or event.

  2. Bake: Bake at 300 degrees Fahrenheit for about 2-4 minutes, just until the Rolo is soft, but not melted.
  3. Press On A Pecan: Place a pecan (or M&M) on top of each Rolo and gently press down.

Tips For Making Rolo Pretzels

  • The pretzels only need to be in the oven for a few minutes, just long enough so that the Rolos begin to soften. If you keep them in any longer, the candy will melt and lose its shape.
  • Press the pecans or M&M’s on top of the Rolos immediately after removing the pretzels from the oven so that they mold into the melted chocolate.
  • Feel free to double or triple this recipe to make pretzel Rolo candy gifts for friends and family. Be sure to save some for yourself because they are addictively delicous!
