Chocolate Covered Oreo Critter Cookies – They are no bake and you just need a few supplies and a little time to make this delicious and easy Spring Dessert!
Once upon a time, there was a mom who was excited about spring’s arrival and wanted to do something “cute and crafty” with her kids. Sadly, they were not as thrilled at the prospect of searching Pinterest for spring-themed crafts. However, being boys (who are constantly and at all times hungry) they happily crowded into the kitchen to make these Chocolate Covered Oreo Critter Cookies.

It’s me. I’m the mom. And my three boys are the hungry, less-than-thrilled-with-crafting kids. Hi, Pinky Pals. It’s Nicole from Simple and Seasonal again. 🙂 I’m excited to share these cute cookies with you as a great idea for spending some time with your kids during spring break! They are no bake, which keeps things simple. You just need a few supplies and a little time!
I started out with the intent to make ladybugs. I was going to get red candy melts and use black gel to add the dots and lines for a cute little bug. However, I couldn’t find any red candy melts, and when I tried to color the white candy, it seized up (even with gel coloring.) So I tossed that out and we decided to just make “cutie bugs” with whatever color sprinkles we had on hand.
INGREDIENTS NEEDED TO MAKE CRITTER COOKIES
- Oreos cookies or any kind of sandwich cookies
- 1 package candy melts or 1 tray of vanilla candiquick
- candy eyes
- sprinkles
- colored decorating gel
USEFUL KITCHEN TOOLS FOR THIS PROJECT
- Silicon Baking Liner (my all time must have for the kitchen!)
- Candy melting bowls – I love these. They are microwave safe and keep the candy warm, so it doesn’t harden as fast.
- Decorating tweezers – these make life so much easier when dealing with those little candy decorations (like the eyes)
- Candy dipping tools – a much easier way to dip food in chocolate!
ALL THINGS EASTER & SPRING
- Bunny Butt Cookies
- Rice Krispie Treat Robins Nests
- Easter Bunny Bark

Chocolate Covered Oreo Critter Cookies
Ingredients
- cookies ((I used Oreos, but you can use any kind of sandwich cookies)
- 1 package candy melts or 1 tray of vanilla Candiquick
- candy eyes
- sprinkles
- colored decorating gel
- wax paper or silicon baking liner
Instructions
-
Follow the instructions for melting your candy (usually in short increments in the microwave)
-
Dip the cookies one at a time in the melted candy and place on wax paper
-
While the candy coating is still wet, gently place the eyes where you want them and add sprinkles.
-
After the candy is set, add any gel decorations like dots, lines, mouths, beaks, etc.
-
Put in the fridge to set them up completely and then serve or wrap in pretty cellophane and place in Easter baskets!
While the boys made their bugs, I made a cute little Easter chick and a duck. They would be really cute in this year’s Easter baskets, I think! You can also put these on a stick and serve them as cookie pops!
