Caramel Apple Crisp Bites

These Caramel Apple Crisp Bites are the perfect recipe to make with all of those delicious fresh apples you pick in the fall!

Our family loves going to the apple orchard and picking fresh apples to begin with – the apples good and fresh and crisp taste just burst when they are right off the tree. (our family’s favorite apples are large Golden Delicious apple, right off the tree – what is yours?)

But, what we love even more is what we make once we have all of those delicious apples.

You have heard me cook with my sister, my kids, and my niece… but today was a special treat – I got to cook with my husband!

Adam is my best taste tester and my best critic. When I told him I wanted to make apple crisp bites (I have a little obsession with bite-sized desserts) – he jumped right in to help!

While these Caramel Apple Crisp Bites are particularly perfect on a nice, cool, Fall day, they are a great dessert any time of the year!

What type of apples are best in an apple crisp?

Basically, you want to go with the sweet varieties of apples. Empire, Granny Smith or Honey Crisp work well. However, We used Golden Delicious for our recipe and they came on perfect.

  • Butter
  • Powdered sugar
  • Apples (we used golden delicious)

How to make Caramel Apple Crisp Bites

Apple Crisp Bites are really easy to make. It starts out with the crust!

  1. In a medium bowl mix together the graham cracker crumbs, powdered sugar, and butter.
NOTE ABOUT BUTTER: Some people have found the crust recipe to work perfectly, while some others found the 12 tablespoons of butter was way too much and the butter started to pool – you may want to start by using 1/2 C butter (1 stick vs. 1 1/2 sticks, or 12 T). Melt the butter and add slowly to the crumbs, a little bit at a time, making sure it’s not too wet. You can always add more or save the leftover butter for later. You want a soft dough that sticks together slightly when you try to form a ball, not a wet dough.
  2. Evenly distribute the mixture to the 24 mini muffin cups. Using your fingertips or the side of a spoon (a tablespoon measuing spoon works perfect for this), press the mixture to the bottom and sides of each cup. You will create a cup-like shape! (save a little bit to put on top of the bites if you can!)
  3. Bake for 5 minutes at 350 degrees (until they start to get a bit golden brown) and let cool completely.
  4. Chop the apples up into small pieces.
PRO-TIP: I used a food processor, but be careful not to over chop them in there. We don’t want an apple sauce or puree – just small chopped up pieces!
  5. Mix the apples, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg together in a bowl. Bake at 375 degrees in a baking dish for 15 minutes until the apples are slightly softened.
  6. Scoop the filling into each of the crust cups still in the muffin pan.
    PRO-TIP: Fill them up generously.
  7. Sprinkle any leftover graham cracker crust on to the tops of the apples and bake at 350 degrees for 5 minutes.
  8. Take out of the oven and let them cool completely. Take a knife and loosen the crusts from the cups. They should then pop right out of the pan!
  9. Drizzle with caramel topping and enjoy!

  1. How can I print just the recipe and not all the comments?
Thanks so much. These Caramel Apple Crisp Bites look AMAZING.

    1. Hi Karen – I would suggest just copying and pasting the actual recipe into a doc so you don’t get the comments – or just adjust the printing pages to not include the pages with the comments!

      1. i am interested to hear how the cheesescake ones turned out,,and as for dave you need to look up here in the Dakotas where its cold ..we bake out of nessecity..lol AND JENN you are amazing where do you find the time to answer all these emails i barely have time to answer my text these days,,great job

      2. If you all are going to take the time to look at my website, I am going to do the best I can to answer any and all questions that I can :)!!!! xoxo

    1. I actually didn’t freeze them, but threw them in the fridge and have been enjoying them for days – they don’t even need to be heated up (YUM with ice cream!!)

      1. I’m impressed that in this day and age, there is still a guy (Ok, and to be fair, just a PERSON) who can correctly spell and construct a complete sentence. I can let the capitalization thing slide, since I tend to forget them when I am in a hurry or excited about something.

    1. YES! It is REALLY easy – secret family recipe…. {whisper voice}….I went to the store and bought Smuckers Caramel Sauce

      1. Couldn’t help – the answer cracked me up. That is exactly what I was thinking of using.

Are you using cupcake size pans or the actual mini cupcake size. The photos look bigger than bite size.

      2. I used mini – I just zoomed in for the picture to show all of the delicious details (does that sound conceited?)

      3. Not at all – I am dying to try these. May have to make a special trip to the store 🙂 and the local fruit stand. I just wanted to make sure it really was the mini pans.

  2. Sound good but I’m tempted to add a layer of cheesecake type mix under the apples too then top that with caramel and then put the apples on top. May have to have a play!

  3. How far in advance could I make these? I was hoping to have them at a dinner party on Saturday night but would have to make them Thur or Fri…

    1. Hi Heather!
I made mine on Sunday night and stuck them in the fridge and they are still good today (Wednesday). Of course, the closer you can make them, the better – but delish either way!!

      1. I’ve tried to print the recipe for Caramel Apple Crisp bites. All I got was six pages of comments but no recipe. What a waste of paper and ink. I’ve tried to highlight, copy, paste into a word program. Got just comments and ads. There is no PRINT button. Short of writing this out by hand how does one get the recipe??? Very frustrating.

      2. I just copied and pasted it into a Word document and avoided the color graphics printing! Enjoy!

      3. Maybe you can cut and paste just this?

        Here is what you need:

2 cup graham cracker crumbs (I used store bought in a can. I find these to work the best)
        12 tablespoons butter, melted

        1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
        1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
        Caramel topping (store bought!)

Grease pan with non-stick butter spray
        Melt butter
In a medium size bowl mix graham cracker crumbs, powdered sugar and butter with a spoon

Bake for 5 minutes on 350
        Let cool completely
Use a knife to loosen from pan and they should pop right out
        Drizzle with caramel topping
        Enjoy

      4. Im thinking about making these for thanksgiving and started them today. I can leave them in the fridge over night? and when i serve don’t they taste better warm? How long to warm them up in the oven?

        Thank you

      5. Just copy and paste the recipe..or if I highlight it on my phone, share will pop up and I send it to my email or to the printer.

      6. I just can’t take photos and them send an email with the photos as attachments. This never fails.

      7. I just take photos and email them as attachments to myself. This always works. That’s what I meant to type. Lol. Good luck.

      8. I like your recipes but why are the pictures nice and dark put all the words are faded and hard to see?

    1. I like the idea of freezing these. Can you put the caramel topping on it before freezing or is that a last minute step?
      Thanks
