Ingredients For Valentine Oreo Truffles
- Golden Oreo cookies: Feel free to replace the Golden Oreos with your favorite vanilla sandwich cookies instead of the name brand.
- Cream cheese: I prefer using full-fat cream cheese for this recipe because it gives these treats the most flavor and richness. Reduced fat would still work, but they may not taste as rich. Make sure to use room-temperature softened cream cheese.
- Pink food coloring: If you choose gel food coloring, remember that it provides a more intense color with just a small amount. So you won’t need as much as liquid food coloring.
- Vanilla candy coating: Candy melts, or almond bark, is specifically designed for melting, dipping, and coating treats like truffles. It melts smoothly, hardens quickly, and doesn’t require tempering like real chocolate. I prefer not to use white chocolate chips because the chocolate doesn’t turn out as smooth.
- Valentine’s Day sprinkles: You can swap the sprinkles with pink, red, and white nonpareils, jimmies, or sanding sugar. They will also make a pretty presentation on top of your truffles.

Step-by-Step Instructions: How to Make Valentine Oreo Truffles
- Make The Cookie Mixture: Crush the cookies into fine crumbs and place in a mixer. Add the cream cheese and food coloring and mix to combine.
- Roll Round: Use a cookie scoop to scoop and roll the cookie dough batter into round balls. Place the Oreo balls on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet and store them in the freezer while you prepare the candy coating.
- Melt: Microwave the white candy, which melts in 20-second bursts, stirring in between, until melted.
- Dip And Decorate: Dip each truffle in the candy coating. Place on a piece of parchment paper or wax paper, then sprinkle with candy sprinkles while the coating is still soft.
- Set And Serve: Chill in the fridge to set for at least 15 minutes. Serve at room temperature for the best taste and texture. Enjoy!

Tips & Variations
- Crush Your Cookies: If you don’t have a blender or food processor, you can place your Oreo cookies in a Ziploc bag and crush them with a rolling pin. Make sure you crush the entire cookie and do not remove the filling.
- Create The Correct Consistency: When the Oreo crumb mixture is the correct consistency, it will stick together in a rolled ball. If it’s too thin, add more cookie crumbs.
- Coat The Candy: The best method to coat these balls in white chocolate is to use a fork and gently tap any excess on the side of the bowl. I like to use a toothpick to remove the excess melted candy coating from the bottom of the fork and then gently push the ball onto the lined cookie sheet.
- Customize Your Candy: Before the chocolate coating begins to set, add some cookie crumbs, sprinkles, crushed candy, or chopped nuts on top. You can also melt and drizzle chocolate in a contrasting color over the candy once the outer shell has hardened. Get creative and decorate your desserts in colors that match the holiday or celebration.
- Other Oreo Ball Ideas: You can make different types of Oreo balls with almost any flavor of Oreo cookie. For some fun and festive truffle treats, try my Oreo Truffles Ornaments, Birthday Cake Oreo Balls, and surprise inside Oreo Balls.

Valentine’s Oreo Truffles
Ingredients
- 36-42 golden oreo cookies
- 6 ounce cream cheese room temperature
- 20 drops pink food coloring divided, more or less to adjust color
- 16 ounces vanilla candy coating
- favorite valentine sprinkles
Instructions
- Place 36 Oreo cookies in a food processor (or smash in sealed bag) to make fine crumbs.36-42 golden oreo cookies
- Place Oreo Cookie crumbs in mixer (or leave in food processor), and add softened cream cheese and 10 drops food coloring. Mix thoroughly.6 ounce cream cheese, 20 drops pink food coloring
- When the Oreo crumb mixture is the correct consistency to stick together in a rolled ball (if too thin, add more cookie crumbs), use a small ice cream scoop, a melon baller, a rounded teaspoon, or candy scoop to scoop uniform amounts of the batter. Roll the balls between your palms to get them round.
- Roll into a firm 1 1/4 inch ball (or desired size), and place on cookie sheet covered with parchment paper. Repeat until all of the Oreo batter has been made into balls. You should get about 24 of them. Place balls in the freezer while you prepare the candy coating.
- Break up vanilla candy coating and place in a microwave-safe bowl, and microwave in 20 second bursts, stirring each time, until liquid. This should only require 1 or 2 minutes.16 ounces vanilla candy coating
- When the coating is liquid, use a fork or dipping tool to dip the truffles in the coating one at a time, dragging the bottom against the lip of the bowl to remove excess coating.
- Place the truffles on the parchment paper. Sprinkle the truffles with candy sprinkles while the coating is still soft.favorite valentine sprinkles
- Repeat with remaining truffles and coating until completed.
- When all of the truffles are dipped and decorated, return the tray to the refrigerator to set the coating for at least 15 minutes. Serve your truffles at room temperature for the best taste and texture. Enjoy!
Jenn’s Notes
- To Store: Oreo balls should be kept in the fridge until you serve them. I personally think they taste best when cold. However, they can be left at room temperature. According to the FDA, cream cheese can be left out at room temperature for up to 2 hours.
- In The Refrigerator: Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
- In The Freezer: You can freeze the truffles for up to 3 months. Allow the truffles to thaw overnight in the refrigerator before serving.
