Having family and friends over for brunch is one of my favorite things to do. If you are not a big “entertainer”, I find that brunch is the easiest meals to prepare and plan. One of my new brunch favorites is creating a Slow Cooker Oatmeal Bar. What is so great about this is that everything can be prepared the night before and will be ready to go when your guests arrive! This Slow Cooker Oatmeal Bar is the perfect addition to your Christmas morning breakfast!!
So the concept is simple! First make your Oatmeal – I found a fabulously delicious crockpot oatmeal (or some may call it slow cooker oatmeal) from The Yummy Life! (click here to get the recipe!) – The recipe calls for 7 hours of cook time, so plan accordingly! Next, grab your favorite toppings and place them in separate dishes or bowls by the warm and delicious crock pot oatmeal. Grab either small bowls or we used mugs (mugs were perfect for this – guests could grab some and walk around with it by holding it by the handle! Perfect!!!) Some of the suggested toppings include (but are not limited to :):
- Granola
- Brown Sugar
- Syrup
- Chopped nuts
- Blueberries or other fresh fruit
- Chocolate chips
- Toasted coconut
- Bananas
What are your favorite oatmeal toppings?? I am always looking for some unique new suggestions!
