Chicken and Waffle Sliders Ingredients

  • Pancake and waffle mix: You can use a homemade waffle mix if you have one that you really like.
  • Bacon jam
  • Breaded, boneless chicken wings: I used the Great Value brand of Chicken Wyngz; however, you can use any breaded chicken patty or chicken nuggets brand. If you choose to use long chicken strips you will need to cut them into pieces that will fit onto the waffles.
  • Maple syrup
  • Waffle Bite Maker:
They stopped making the mini waffle maker I used, but this one from Amazon will also work.

What if I don’t have a mini waffle maker?

If you still want fresh, hot waffles, you can make full sized waffles and cut or tear them to size. You can also purchase pre-made frozen mini waffles. Target usually has Kodiak brand cubs waffles in stock. You can also use other mini waffles, such as Eggo Homestyle or Eggo Cinnamon Toast Mini Waffles, but they may add sweetness or other flavors to your sliders.

How to Make Chicken And Waffle Sliders

  1. Make The Mini Waffles: Prepare the pancake and waffle mix according to package directions for making waffles. Cook the waffles until golden brown.
  2. Separate And Spread: Separate the waffles into small circles and spread bacon jam over 16 of them.
  3. Warm The Wings: Heat the chicken wings as directed on the package using whichever method you prefer.
  4. Assemble The Sliders: Place a heated chicken wing on top of the jam and top with another plain mini-waffle. Secure with a toothpick.
  5. Serve: Pour the maple syrup over all the sliders and serve. Enjoy!

How To Heat The Chicken From Frozen

The package of frozen chicken usually includes several methods for cooking, ranging from a quick microwave option to the ever more common air fryer option. I prefer the chicken in my Chicken and Waffles to be crispy so I usually use my air fryer to heat the chicken. However you can use whichever method you prefer as long as they are heated to 165 degrees Fahrenheit in the middle.

  • In The Airfryer: If you are using the air fryer be sure not to overcrowd the basket or the chicken will not crisp properly. It cooks for 4-5 minutes on each side.
  • In The Oven: You can heat your chicken in the oven until crispy. This is usually the longest method but does give great results.
  • In The Microwave: If you heat the chicken in the microwave, make sure to keep the chicken in an even layer and flip it at least once while heating. Although it will have a softer texture, the microwave is usually the fastest method. If you have hungry mouths to feed, go ahead and use it!

Tips For Making The Best Chicken And Waffle Sliders

  • You can omit the bacon jam, but it gives a nice savory, salty flavor to the slider. You can also add a bit of crumbled bacon instead.
  • Feel free to use frozen mini waffles instead of making your own with a mix in the waffle iron.
  • You can turn these sliders into full-size sandwiches with regular waffles and larger pieces of chicken.
  • Use a cocktail pick or long toothpick to push through and keep the slider together.
