Our copycat Chick-Fil-A Frosted Lemonade is a creamy vanilla milkshake-meets-whipped lemonade. This refreshing frozen drink tastes just like your favorite fast food frosty—made at home for less.
Chick-fil-A’s Frosted Lemonade is a fan favorite for a reason—it’s creamy, tangy, and totally refreshing. It’s basically a milkshake and lemonade in one. So why not make it at home to skip the drive-thru and save a few bucks? My easy copycat recipe blends up in minutes with just three ingredients, so you can whip up that same frosty treat anytime the craving hits.
Ingredients for Frosted Lemonade
- Freshly squeezed lemon juice: Using freshly squeezed lemon juice instead of store-bought lemon juice makes a significant difference in the taste and freshness of your Frosted Lemonade. Be sure to remove any seeds before adding the juice to your blender.
- Granulated sugar: Adjust the sweetness to your liking by adding more or less sugar or substituting with a natural sweetener like honey or agave syrup.
- VERY cold water: You can add ice cubes to the water first, let it sit for a few minutes, then remove the ice cubes before adding the water to the blender.
- Vanilla bean ice cream: Choose a high-quality vanilla ice cream for a richer and creamier texture. If you prefer a healthier or dairy-free alternative, consider using a premium vanilla frozen yogurt or a non-dairy ice cream substitute.
- Yellow food coloring (optional)
- Lemons (optional garnish)

How to Make Chick-fil-A Frosted Lemonade (Copycat Recipe)
- Blend: Blend the lemon juice and sugar on either the milkshake or smoothie setting for 30-45 seconds. Drizzle in the cold water and blend for 10-15 seconds.
- Pulse: Add the ice cream to the lemonade and pulse until well blended.
- Serve: Pour into glasses and sip through a straw or enjoy like a slushie with a spoon. Serve immediately.
Tips & Variations
- Add Fruity Flavors: Blend in fresh strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, or tropical fruits like pineapple or dragonfruit.
- Adjust Texture: Blend until smooth. Too thick? Add water. Too thin? Add more ice cream.
- Customize Sweetness: Add sugar for extra sweetness, or more lemon juice/zest for tartness.
- Change the Creaminess: Use full-fat ice cream or a splash of heavy cream for richness, or swap in frozen yogurt or dairy-free options for a lighter sip.
- Try Other Citrus: Swap lemon juice for orange, lime, grapefruit juice, or limeade.
- Make It Boozy: Add vodka, rum, or tequila for an adult-only version.
- Use Concentrate: Sub in thawed frozen lemonade concentrate and reduce the sugar to ¼–⅓ cup, depending on the brand.
How to Make a Diet Chick Fil A Frosted Lemonade
To make a lower-calorie version of the Frosted Lemonade, you can:
- Opt for low-fat vanilla yogurt: Instead of full-fat vanilla ice cream, use low-fat vanilla yogurt for a lighter, creamy texture with fewer calories and sugar.
- Make a Sugar-Free Swap: To reduce sweetness, swap regular lemonade for a diet lemonade or reduced-sugar version.
How to Store Frosted Lemonade and Reblend Later
To maintain the optimal cold and creamy texture, serve the Frosted Lemonade immediately after blending. If you have leftovers or want to prepare it ahead of time, store it in the freezer for later. Make sure it doesn’t freeze solid—just let it firm up to a slushy consistency.
When you’re ready to serve, let it thaw slightly, then blend again to revive the creamy, slushy texture.

Jenn’s Notes
- To Store: You can store the lemonade in the refrigerator until you are ready to add the ice cream. It is intended to be consumed immediately when the ice cream is added.
- Make sure that the water is VERY cold. You can add ice cubes to the water first, let it sit for a few minutes, then remove the ice cubes before adding the water to the blender.
- I like to chill my glasses in the freezer before serving. Pouring the lemonade into a frosty glass will keep it cooler for longer.
- You can stock up on fresh lemons when they are on sale at the store. Juice them and freeze the freshly squeezed lemon juice in ice cube trays so that you always have lemon juice on hand.
super refreshing and delicious
