Sugared Champagne Grapes
Our sugar Champagne Grapes recipe is all the rage, and it’s no wonder why they’re trending on TikTok (but it was originally inspired by Julie Blanner). These light, refreshing bites are so easy to make using only three ingredients—simply soak them in sparkling champagne, roll them in sugar, and watch as they transform into the perfect sweet, fizzy treats.
Since readers fell in love with my original Boozy Grapes recipe, I’ve been inspired to create another fun alcohol-soaked grape snack for grown-up guests. This one captures the same festive flair but with even more bubbly magic! These sugared prosecco grapes hit the spot!
But watch out! The sweetness of the sugar masks the alcohol in this champagne soaked grapes recipe, making them tempting and hard to resist!
Champagne Grapes Ingredients
- Champagne: Use your favorite champagne. Prosecco and sparkling wine will work just as well.
- Green Grapes: You can use any seedless grapes you like for this recipe, but I’ve always preferred green grapes because they tend to be the most tart. You can try seedless red grapes or a combination of each. Make sure they are removed from the stem and rinsed clean before soaking.
- White Granulated Sugar
See the recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities.
How to Make Champagne Grapes
- Soak: Pour champagne over the grapes, cover, and place in the fridge for at least 12 hours.
- Coat: Scoop out the grapes, drain them, and toss in sugar to coat.
- Freeze: Freeze for a minimum of 2 hours or until completely frozen.
- Serve: Serve and enjoy!
Serving Suggestions
Frozen sugared grapes are perfect for snacking poolside, serving as an appetizer at an adult party, or enjoying something sweet after dinner for dessert. They are great for New Year’s Eve celebrations, Christmas, birthdays, and brunch. But you don’t need a special occasion to spike your snack with a bit of booze!
You can skewer your green champagne grapes to garnish cocktail glasses, pour water over them like ice, or pile them on a plate for finger food. No matter how you serve them, grapes and champagne are a delicious combination!
Tips & Variations
- Fresh or Frozen: You do not have to freeze your sugar grapes. Of course, they’re more fun frozen, but they can technically be served once they’re coated; it’s just a personal preference. Plus, frozen grapes last longer when sitting out for parties.
- Swap the Sugar: When your sugar starts to get clumpy and doesn’t coat the grapes well, toss it and replace it with the remaining sugar.
- Kid-Friendly Candy: You can make a non-alcoholic, kid-friendly version by swapping out the alcohol and using flavored seltzer, sparkling white grape juice, or soda as a substitute. Or check out my Sour Patch Grapes and Caramel Apple Grapes recipes for other bite-sized snacks without any booze!
- Make With White Claw: My Boozy Grapes are marinated in a mix of watermelon White Claw and vodka rather than champagne or sparkling wine so they’re filled with even more fruity flavor.
Proper Storage
- To Store: Store in an airtight container in the fridge for 3 to 4 days.
- To Freeze: Store in an airtight container in the freezer up to 1 month.

Ingredients
- 1 Champagne
- 2 cups Green Grapes
- ½ cup White Granulated Sugar
Instructions
- Make sure your grapes are washed well.
- Place your grapes in a medium bowl and pour the champagne over them until they’re just covered.2 cups Green Grapes, 1 Champagne
- Cover and place in the fridge for at least 12 hours.
- Place half of the sugar in a small bowl.
- Remove the grapes from the fridge and using a slotted spoon, scoop them out, let them drain and place them in the sugar.½ cup White Granulated Sugar
- I only do about 10 grapes at a time, or less, when I toss them in the sugar. Get the grapes nice and coated before placing them on a plate, making sure not to pile them on top of each other.
- When your sugar starts to get clumpy and doesn’t coat the grapes well, toss it and replace it with the remaining sugar.
- Place in the freezer, once finished coating in sugar, and let freeze for 2 hours, or until frozen through.
- Remove, serve, and enjoy!
