These easy Big Mac Sliders taste just like your favorite fast food burger, but made at home in under 30 minutes with ground beef, pickles, and a tangy copycat sauce—baked all together on soft sesame buns.
I’ve tested a dozen versions, and this one nails that classic Big Mac taste with just a few ingredients—and no drive-thru required.
Why We Love BIG MAC SLIDERS
- Tastes Like The Real Deal: This big mac sliders on hawaiian rolls recipe comes about as close as you can get to the original Big Mac.
- Baked As A Single Slab: No need to form individual patties—just bake one big layer of beef.
- Small Size: All the fixings that make a Big Mac so special, served in a small sandwich size.
- Perfectly Portioned: Mini handheld size makes them perfect for parties, potlucks, game day and Super Bowl snacking, and easy for kids to hold.
Big Mac Sliders Ingredients
- Lean ground beef: For a healthier option, you can use extra lean ground beef, ground turkey, or ground chicken. For a vegetarian version, feel free to use your favorite meat alternative.
- Salt and pepper
- Garlic powder
- White onion
- Iceberg lettuce
- American cheese: Although American cheese slices are the classic choice, you can substitute with Colby, Swiss, cheddar cheese or Kraft Singles slices if needed.
- Dill pickle chips
- Hawaiian Rolls: I love using Kings Hawaiian Sweet Rolls for these sliders because the sweetness compliments the savory filling. However Kings Hawaiian savory rolls, small dinner rolls, or homemade slider buns will also work. Or skip the sandwich bun and make my Big Mac Salad (Cheeseburger Salad)!
- Butter
- Sesame seeds
Big Mac Sauce Recipe Ingredients
- Mayonnaise: You can use low-fat mayo or Greek yogurt to cut back on calories. Keep in mind that it tends to be thinner and less creamy than regular mayo, which could alter the richness of the sauce slightly.
- French dressing
- Yellow mustard
- Sweet pickle relish
- White vinegar
- Granulated sugar
- Onion powder
- Paprika
See the recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities.
Substitutions & Variations
- Choose Your Cheese: Although American cheese is the classic choice, you can substitute American cheese for cheddar cheese, Colby, Monterrey Jack, Pepper Jack, Swiss, or Kraft Singles slices if needed.
- Pick Your Protein: For this recipe I used lean ground beef. However, for a healthier option, you can use extra lean ground beef, ground turkey, or ground chicken. For a vegetarian version, feel free to use your favorite plant based ground meat alternative (just season well to keep that Big Mac Flavor).
- Bread Base: I love using King’s Hawaiian Sweet Rolls for these sliders because the sweetness complements the savory filling. However, King’s Hawaiian savory rolls, other small dinner rolls, or homemade slider buns will also work.
How to Make Big Mac Sliders
- Mix The Big Mac Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together the mayo, French dressing, mustard, relish, vinegar, sugar and seasoning. Cover with plastic wrap and chill in the fridge.
- Make The Beef Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion. Press the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- Bake The Beef: Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 12-15 minutes.
- Assemble: Cut the Hawaiian rolls into a top and bottom portion. Spread a layer of sauce on the bottom of the rolls, top with shredded lettuce, the large burger patty, cheese, and pickle chips. Cover with the top buns and brush with melted butter. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
- Bake: Place the sliders onto a baking sheet and cook for an additional 5-10 minutes or until the cheese has fully melted.
- Serve: Slice immediately with a serrated knife while the cheese is melty. Serve with crispy French Fries, Air Fryer Home Fries, Sweet Potato Fries, or tater tots and some extra Mac sauce on the side. Enjoy!
Recipe Tips
- Toast the Top and Bottom: Lightly toast the buns before assembling to prevent sogginess and add structure.
- Prepare The Patty: If you’re using regular ground beef (80/20 or higher fat), you may need to drain off the excess grease after baking to prevent the sliders from becoming greasy or soggy.
- Spread The Sauce: Spread the sauce on the bottom buns first so it soaks into the bread base.
- Layer The Lettuce: Layer lettuce under the beef to help keep the bottom buns from getting too soft.
- Brush With Butter: Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle sesame seeds for that classic Big Mac look and a golden, crispy finish.
What’s the Best Sauce for Big Mac Sliders?
Big Mac slider recipes wouldn’t be complete without the iconic special sauce flavor. For the best taste, make your own using mayo, relish, mustard, vinegar, and a few simple spices. Short on time? Skip a step, buy a bottle, and make your Big Mac sliders with Thousand Island dressing.
This homemade Big Mac sauce isn’t just for sliders—try it on burgers, wraps, or even as a dip for fries. It’s a go-to in our kitchen!
Storage, Reheating and Making in Advance
Storage Tips:
Once the sliders are assembled with all the fixings, they don’t store or reheat well. The lettuce will wilt, and the bread may become soggy. It’s best to enjoy them right away for the freshest taste and texture.
Can I Make Big Mac Sliders in Advance?
While Big Mac sliders are best eaten fresh, you can prep the components ahead of time. You can make the special sauce up to 3 days in advance and store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. You can also cook the beef slab in advance and store it covered in aluminum foil for up to 3 days.
When you’re ready to serve, simply reheat the beef patty slab in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 5 minutes, then assemble according to the instructions just before serving to ensure the lettuce stays crisp and the bread doesn’t get soggy.

Big Mac Sliders
Ingredients
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ white onion finely chopped
- Shredded lettuce
- 6 slices American cheese
- Pickle chips
- 12 count Hawaiian Rolls
- 2 tablespoons Melted butter
- Sesame seeds
Big Mac Sauce:
- ½ cup mayo
- 2 tablespoons French dressing
- 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
- 4 teaspoon sweet pickle relish
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar
- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 pinch salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and lightly prepare a 9×13 baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray.
- In a small mixing bowl, combine all ingredients together for the Mac sauce. Mix with a fork until well blended. (this will create a pink color sauce). Cover and place inside the refrigerator to chill until ready to use.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, salt, pepper, garlic powder and white onion. Mix well until fully combined.
- Press beef mixture into the shaking baking sheet, creating a flat even rectangle and cook for 12-15 minutes. When done, do not turn the oven off.
- Using a bread knife, carefully cut the Hawaiian rolls into a top and bottom portion by cutting through the middle, evenly around all sides. Do not pull the individual rolls apart yet. Place the bottom on a flat surface and the top portion to the side.
- Spread the mac sauce thick on the bottom of the rolls.
- Top with shredded lettuce, the large hamburger patty, american cheese and pickle chips.
- Place the top portion of the rolls on and gently press down.
- Using a silicone brush, coat the top of the bun heavily in the melted butter. Top immediately with sesame seeds.
- Place the sliders onto a 9×13 baking sheet and cook for an additional 5-10 minutes or until the cheese has fully melted.
- Serve immediately with french fries or additional Mac sauce.
Jenn’s Notes
- To Store: I do not recommend storing these sliders once fully assembled.
- You can use a large pan size for the hamburger and form the hamburger in a rectangle shape similar to the size of the Hawaiian rolls if you do not have a 9×13.
- Trim any excess meat from the large patty around the edges after it finished cooking to better fit flush over top of the rolls.
- Less lean meat will shrink more as it cooks.
- As you’re handling these sliders, the sesame seeds will come off at times.
- You can prepare your Big Mac sauce with Thousand Island dressing if you prefer.
My family and I made them together for family movie night and they came out wonderful Thank You ☺️ Please keep posting more easy exciting dish’s to make with my family for movie night
The meat was not cooked at all, I cooked it for an additional 10 minutes and it will still bloody
Very good! I shaped my meat in the kings Hawaiian cardboard so it was the right size. Worked well.
These were actually very fast & easy to make & were super delicious‼️
So glad you enjoyed them!
So good! Made it exactly as written except I used Hawaiian butter rolls instead of the sweet. I baked it with the lettuce in it and it was totally fine, no need to try and lift the bun to put it on after baking. Used Hellmann’s mayonnaise (thank you Jenn for getting back to me on that!) My 12 and 15 year old sons and husband raved! Will definitely make these again!
ingredients 5 stars. instructions negative 3 stars. repost because I dislike grammar errors. sorry

Thinking of making these for the 4th! Looking at the pics you posted, I can’t figure out where to put the lettuce! You say to do the bottom bun, sauce, lettuce, but the pic looks the opposite? What’s the best way to do it? Thanks!!
Even my bearded man who doesnt like sauce and buns on his burgers ate these up! Love this recipe, thanks 😉
