Our easy Air Fryer Chicken Fajitas recipe is a healthy way to cook a low-carb, keto, paleo, low-fat, and whole30-compliant dish in under 15 minutes! That’s even faster than the conventional method of making this same meal in the oven.

In a fraction of the time it takes to bake both my chicken sheet pan fajitas, you can cook air fryer fajitas and create the same classic charred chicken strips and crunchy peppers and onions. 

Wrap the chicken and veggies in warm tortillas, toss them in a salad, add them to a bowl, and serve with your favorite fajita fixings; cooking healthy food doesn’t have to be hard, especially in a hurry!

  • Boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • Red bell pepper
  • Green bell pepper
  • Red onion
  • Olive oil
  • Fajita seasoning: You can use a store bought packet or a homemade fajita seasoning.

How to Make Air Fryer Chicken Fajitas

  1. Prepare The Protein And Produce: Drizzle oil over the chicken, peppers, and onion. Sprinkle with seasoning and toss until coated.
  2. Cook: Cook at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 14 minutes or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees, stirring once halfway through. 
  3. Serve: Serve in warm tortillas with your favorite toppings. Enjoy!
In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients. Sprinkle the seasoning mix and toss. Put the seasoned chicken and veggies to the air fryer.

Tips For Making The fajitas in the Air Fryer

  • If your air fryer doesn’t have a preheat function, set it to 400 degrees F and let it run for 4-5 minutes before adding the fajitas. 
  • The cooking time may vary based on your air fryer model and the thickness of your chicken strips. I always recommend checking the internal temperature of one of the thickest pieces of chicken to ensure it is fully cooked before serving. 
  • Cut your chicken and veggies the same size and thickness to ensure they cook evenly.
  • You can substitute a packet of taco seasoning for the fajita seasoning in this recipe. I have done this in a pinch and it was equally as delicious.

Air Fryer Chicken Fajitas

Air Fryer Chicken Fajitas are deliciously flavorful and cook so much faster (and healthier) than the conventional kind! Easy to make in minutes.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 large chicken breasts cut into ¼-inch thick strips
  • ½ large red bell pepper cut into ¼-inch thick strips
  • ½ large green bell pepper cut into ¼-inch thick strips
  • 1 large red onion cut into ¼-inch thick strips
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 ounce packet of fajita seasoning (2 tablespoons if using homemade)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees F. If your air fryer doesn’t have a preheat function, set it to 400 degrees F and let it run for 4-5 minutes before adding the fajitas.
  • Add the chicken, bell peppers, and onion to a large bowl and drizzle over the oil.

  • Sprinkle the seasoning mix over top and toss until well combined and evenly coated.

  • Add the seasoned chicken and veggies to the preheated air fryer basket and cook for 14 minutes or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees F, stirring well once halfway through.
  • Serve in warm tortillas with your favorite toppings.

Storage:
  • To Store: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three months.
  • To Freeze: I do not recommend freezing the cooked fajitas as the texture of the veggies becomes mushy when thawed.
  • To Reheat: Reheat leftovers in a 350 degree air fryer for 3-4 minutes or in the microwave for 2-3 minutes.
