The Butterbeer at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter was the recipe that started my whole copycat obsession. I walked out of Universal with a cup of it, spent the whole flight home thinking about what was in it, and had a version working in my kitchen by the following weekend. After that I could not stop. Dole Whip, Disney churros, Polyjuice Potion, the Disneyland peanut butter bars that cost ten dollars in the park and take about fifteen minutes to make at home.

These are the recipes that make people feel like they are back in the park, even when they are standing in their own kitchen. They are also the ones my family requests most for movie nights, birthday parties, and any time someone wants to make the house feel a little more magical.

If you love making themed treats for parties and movie nights, my homemade candy recipes page has even more from-scratch sweets that work great for any occasion.

I have tested four versions of Butterbeer to make sure every preference is covered. Whether you want the classic, a frozen version, ice cream, or something for adults, there is a recipe here.

The Dole Whip takes about five minutes in the blender and tastes exactly right. The churros take a little more time but are absolutely worth it.

Tips for Making Theme Park Recipes at Home

  • The Butterbeer flavor is all about the butterscotch. The combination of cream soda and butterscotch is what makes Butterbeer taste like Butterbeer. Do not substitute the cream soda with regular soda and do not skip the butterscotch component.
  • Frozen Dole Whip needs a high-powered blender. Frozen pineapple blends smoothly in a Vitamix or NutriBullet, but lower-powered blenders can struggle. If yours is not getting it smooth, let the pineapple sit out for five minutes before blending.
  • Make these for movie nights. Harry Potter Butterbeer during a marathon, Dole Whip during Encanto, churros for any Disney night. These recipes hit different when you pair them with the movie they came from.
