Big Mac Pizza is filled with all of your favorite flavors from McDonald’s Big Mac burger but prepared as a pizza. Loaded with ground beef, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, a sprinkle of sesame seeds, and drizzled with dressing, each slice is fun to eat and a fresher way to enjoy fast food at home.
Our easy Big Mac Pizza recipe is a fun spin on a favorite restaurant sandwich, prepared with the same fast food flavor found in my Big Mac Salad, Big Mac Sliders and Big Mac Sloppy Joes, but served as a slice.
The Big Mac pizza toppings taste just like the classic combination of browned ground beef, shredded lettuce, cheese, onion, dill pickles, sesame seeds, and signature special sauce. Instead of serving it between a bun, it’s piled on a pizza crust.
This cheeseburger pizza is far fresher and made with better-for-you ingredients than its fast-food counterpart – filled with all the fixings that make a Big Mac so special, prepared pizza-style.

Substitutions and Additions
- Choose Your Cheese: Although American cheese is the classic choice, you can substitute American cheese for shredded cheddar cheese, Colby jack, Monterrey Jack, Pepper Jack, Swiss, or Kraft Singles slices if needed.
- Pick Your Protein: For this recipe I used lean ground beef. However, for a healthier option, you can use extra lean ground beef, ground turkey, or ground chicken. For a vegetarian version, feel free to use your favorite meat alternative.
How to Make Big Mac Pizza
- Par-Bake The Pizza Dough: Roll out the dough to 14 inches and poke holes over the entire surface. Brush with olive oil (Image 1) and bake at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes. Cool on the counter before adding the toppings.
Pro Tip: Be careful to leave about a half-inch border around the edges so your crust can rise. - Brown The Beef: Cook the olive oil, ground beef, onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until no pink remains. Place it onto a paper towel-lined plate to drain the excess grease.
- Bake: Spoon the beef mixture onto the par-baked pizza dough (Image 2) and top with shredded cheese (Image 3). Finish baking until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted.
- Top: Sprinkle the lettuce over the melted cheese, followed by the onion. Place dill pickles on top, drizzle on the dressing, and garnish with the sesame seeds. (Image 4)
- Slice And Serve: Cut the pizza into eight slices and serve. Enjoy!
Tips For Making The Best Big Mac Pizza
- This Big Mac pizza is best served freshly made and still warm from the oven. Leftovers do not store or reheat well.
- I love to get Thousand Island dressing in a squeeze bottle as it makes it so easy to drizzle the sauce over the top of the pizza. You can also place your dressing into a zip-top bag, with the end snipped off to cleanly drizzle the dressing over the top of the pizza.
- When topping your Big Mac pizza, be sure to drain as much of the excess fat as possible from the cooked ground beef before adding it to the par-baked pizza so that your pizza dough can cook through and not be soggy from any excess grease.
How to Store Big Mac Pizza
- To Store: I do not recommend storing leftover pizza.

Big Mac Pizza
Ingredients
- 1 pound prepared fresh pizza dough
- 2 tablespoons olive oil divided (1 tablespoon to brush the dough and 1 tablespoon to cook the ground beef)
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 cup small diced yellow onion divided (¾ cup added to cooked ground beef, ¼ cup for toppings)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 2½ cups shredded yellow American cheese from an 8-ounce piece sliced at the deli counter
- 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
- ⅓ cup hamburger sliced dill pickles patted dry
- ⅓ cup bottled Thousand Island dressing
- 2 teaspoons sesame seeds
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F. Lightly spray a large 15 to 16-inch round pizza pan with nonstick spray. Set aside.
- On a clean work surface, carefully roll or stretch out your fresh pizza dough to 14 inches, then place it onto the prepared pizza pan. Using a fork, poke holes all over the entire surface of the pizza dough. Be careful to leave about a half-inch border around the edges so your crust can rise. The holes help prevent bubbles from forming on the surface where you will add your toppings as you par-bake the pizza dough.1 pound prepared fresh pizza dough
- Brush the entire surface of the pizza crust with 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Bake the pizza dough (that is not yet topped) for 15 minutes. Once the pizza dough is partially baked, remove it from the oven and allow it to cool on the counter while you finish preparing the toppings.2 tablespoons olive oil
- While your pizza dough is par-baking, you will make the ground beef topping by adding to a large skillet, on medium-high heat, the remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil, lean ground beef, ¾ cup diced yellow onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Cook and brown the ground beef for 5-6 minutes or until no pink remains.2 tablespoons olive oil, 1 pound lean ground beef, 1 cup small diced yellow onion, 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, ½ teaspoon salt, ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- Using a slotted spoon, remove the cooked ground beef from the skillet and place it onto a paper towel-lined plate to allow as much of the excess grease to drain from the ground beef mixture as possible.
- Spoon the drained ground beef mixture onto the par-baked pizza dough, making sure that the ground beef is evenly distributed and leaving about a 1-inch border for the crust.
- Top the ground beef with the shredded American cheese. Be sure that the cheese is evenly distributed over the surface of the pizza.2½ cups shredded yellow American cheese
- Return the ground beef and cheese-topped pizza to the oven to finish baking the crust and melt the cheese. This should take about 7-11 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted. Remove the pizza from the oven and slide it onto a large cutting board.
- To finish topping the Big Mac pizza, sprinkle the shredded iceberg lettuce over the melted cheese, followed by the remaining ¼ cup diced yellow onion.1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce, 1 cup small diced yellow onion
- Next, randomly place the dill pickle slices around the top of the Big Mac pizza, drizzle the Thousand Island dressing over the entire pizza in a decorative pattern, and then garnish with the sesame seeds.⅓ cup hamburger sliced dill pickles, ⅓ cup bottled Thousand Island dressing, 2 teaspoons sesame seeds
- Using a pizza cutter, cut the pizza into eight slices by cutting the pizza in half, then into quarters, then cut each quarter in half.
Jenn’s Notes
- To Store: I do not recommend storing leftover pizza.
- You can now easily find fresh pizza dough at the bakery counter in your local grocery store. You can also go to your local pizzeria, and they will often sell you a fresh dough ball as well.
- If you do not already have a large metal pizza baking pan, you can use a large (12×17 inch) rimmed metal sheet pan and stretch your dough to fit the size of the sheet pan. You will need to note that you will get a rectangular-shaped pizza that you can cut into squares instead of the traditional triangle slices.
- Yellow American cheese is the cheese used on a traditional Big Mac. If your deli counter can not sell you an 8-ounce block, you can substitute mild cheddar or Colby jack cheese for the yellow American cheese for your pizza.
- I love to get Thousand Island dressing in a squeeze bottle as it makes it so easy to drizzle over the top of the pizza.
