This simple recipe uses only 5 ingredients and elevates a classic comfort food into a deliciously satisfying, savory, substantial meal in under 15 minutes.
Generously butter 1 side of each of the 4 slices of toast, set them aside.
Heat a 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat.
Place 2 of the slices of bread butter side down in the heated skillet.
Lay 1 slice of cheese on each slice of bread in the skillet.
Lay 4 of the halved pieces of bacon on top of the cheese.
Evenly divide the thickly sliced avocado halves and lay on top of the bacon.
Next, lay the remaining 2 slices of cheese on top of each of the avocados.
Finally, top each sandwich with the remaining slices of buttered bread.
Using a spatula, gently press down on the tops of the sandwiches.
Cook for 5-7 minutes, flip and cook an additional 5-7 minutes on the other side.
Remove the sandwiches from the skillet and slice them in half.

The best way to make sure your cheese melts nicely is if you let it sit out for 15 to 20 minutes before you start making these sandwiches.
To ripen avocados faster, place them in a brown paper bag for about 3 days.
Use ripe avocados for the best flavor; avoid using unripe avocados. Avocados should give just slightly when squeezed gently. Avoid avocados that feel fluid under the skin. A few brown spots in the avocado flesh are just fine and perfectly edible.
You can substitute tomato for the avocado if you cannot find any in season.
