Combine 4 cups water and the brown rice in a large pot. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to a simmer, cover, and cook 45 minutes until the rice is soft and the water is absorbed.
2 cups brown rice
Cook the ground chicken in a large skillet over medium-high heat until no longer pink, about 6 to 8 minutes.
Add the spinach, carrot, and zucchini to the skillet. Cook until the spinach wilts and the vegetables soften, about 3 to 4 minutes.
2 pounds lean ground chicken
Remove the chicken mixture from the heat and let it cool.
2 cups spinach, 1 large carrot, 1 small zucchini
Stir the cooked rice into the chicken and vegetable mixture until evenly combined.
Cool completely before serving or storing.
Notes
Tips:
Cool it all the way before you store it so it does not spoil early.
Freeze it in meal-size portions so you can pull out exactly one serving.
Leave out salt, onion, and garlic. Those are for my food, not his, and onion and garlic are not safe for dogs.
Switch your dog over slowly, mixed with their current food. Check with your vet before introducing any new food, and let your vet set how much and how often to feed your dog.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Please consult your vet before feeding your pet anything new!
