Ingredients

  • 3 12 oz bag of candy melts (chocolate, white, and red. You can also use candy bark.)
  • 1 package pretzel rods
  • 4 packages candy of choice (chopped. I used miniature M&M’s, Butterfingers, Twix, and crunch bars.)
  • 2 rimmed baking sheets lined with parchment paper
  • 3 microwave safe dipping containers

Instructions

  1. Chocolate Covered Pretzel Rods are perfect for any holiday and all occasions.  Covered in melted chocolate and then topped with your favorite candy, this is a great snack kids and adults will love.

  2. Chop candy morsels into bite sized pieces, place in separate containers and set aside.

  3. Using a microwave safe container fill 3/4 of the way with chocolate melts of choice. Place in microwave and melt for 1 minute. Stir and melt in additional 30 second increments until fully melted.

  4. Working with one pretzel rod at a time, dip into melted chocolate and place on prepared baking sheet. Continue with remaining pretzel rods until all have been covered with chocolate. You may have to reheat chocolate in the microwave to keep it a silky consistency.

  5. Allow the pretzels to begin to harden about 3-4 minutes, then press pieces of candy into chocolate. You don't want to add the candy right away because it will slide off the pretzel.

  6. Place back on rimmed baking sheet and put in refrigerator to fully harden, about 10 minutes.

  7. Store in an airtight container separating layers with parchment paper, or if giving as gifts place 1-2 pretzels inside a pretzel treat bag.
