So first there was Chrismukkah (one of my besties, Maria, and my favorite holiday!) A little Christmas, a little Hanukkah rolled into one. Now, for the first time in more than 100 years we will be celebrating Thanksgivukkah – when the first day of Hanukkah falls on Thanksgiving! The last time this incredible Thanksgivukkah miracle occurred was 1888 and seeing that is won’t happen for approximately another 70,000 years – we best make the most of it and Manischewitz this party out!
So, does this mean we put a kippah on the turkey before we bake it? Stuff it challah (hey, that could be yummy)? Not really sure, but there is one thing I do know – Princess Pinky Girl is having a Hanukkah themed Thanksgiving – get ready for some Thanksgivukkah!!!
So how do we start out our Thanksgivukkah celebration – well, duh, with a menurkey of course! How else would you even start to light the Thanksgivukkah candles without the menurkey. Where you may ask can you buy a menurkey, well, you aren’t going to find it at Bed Bath and Beyond or Target, but you will find it by following this link at menurkey.com, of course!
Bread: Turkey Challah – So, I have NO idea how to make this, but I am pretty certain that my sister, Julie, will have this on her “to do” list this year (given that I make the assignment list, you can pretty much be counting on it!)
Side Dishes: Sweet Potato Latkes (these actually sound pretty delicious!!)
Sweet Potato Bourbon Noodle Kugel – I am a huge kugel fan and a huge sweet potato fan – this will happen this year!! (ummm… hello, siser-in-law Jodie, wish you were coming this year)
Dessert: Pecan Pie Rugelach – hard to pronounce, but delicious to eat!
And of course – to properly incorporate all things Thanksgivukkah, we must properly pair our meal with the proper beer selection.
What about some after dinner fun – well pumpkin driedel, of course!
I would be remiss if I didn’t thank my awesome contributor and friend, Nikki Klein – she was on this way before I was and provided me with some AWESOME content – Nikki – love ya, girl!!
As always – I am continually updating my posts with new additions – if you have ANY more Thanksgiving + Hanukkah mash-up recipes, please email me at email@example.com!!!
May your turkey be moist and your dreidel land on Gimmel!!
