Homemade Mini Apple Pies

Nothing screams fall like a warm apple dessert. There’s something so comforting about the weather cooling down, beginning to cook warm desserts, and the house smelling of flavors like pumpkin, cinnamon, and apples. It’s my favorite time of the entire year.

These caramel apple hand pies check all the boxes. They are easy to make. Seriously, from start to finish, this recipe can be completed in just 15 minutes and only need 5 ingredients! They are warm and comforting, and they are so darn delicious! It’s the perfect dessert for fall.

The outside of your hand pies is made from a pre-made pie crust and the apple filling is also a  pre-made canned filling, which is part of the reason this recipe is so simple. But, these little guys do not lack for flavor in the slightest. They are crazy delicious.

Recipes like this are one of the reasons I could not live without my Air Fryer. It’s so easy to pop these in the Air Fryer and have a warm dessert ready in no time.

However, if you don’t have an Air Fryer these can easily be made in the oven as well. Either way, I can’t wait for you to give these delicious little dessert hand pies a try!

Tips

Tip 1: Begin to check the hand pies after about 5 minutes of cooking in the Air Fryer or the oven. Every Air Fryer and oven will cook a little bit differently, so you want to make sure that your hand pies don’t overcook, regardless of which method you use to cook them.

Tip 2: You can add decorative shapes to the top of the hand pies by cutting a seventh circle and cutting out shapes using a cookie cutter. Then place the cut out shapes on the top of the pies.

Jenn’s Notes

TIPS:
  • I suggest doing a test run with one hand pie and then adjust the time/temp. As with ovens, air fryers are all similar, but cooking times can vary.
  • Cut two small vents in each hand pie to help the steam vent. This will prevent a soggy hand pie.
